Sleeping standing up?

Sleep has been a challenge for us the last week or two. Tonight he would fall asleep, I would put him in his crib, he would scream. I'd rock him back to sleep, put him in his crib, he'd scream, after too many times, I finally shut the door, put the timer on for 5 minutes, he screamed and before the timer went off he was quiet.  When I went and looked at the monitor, he was standing up, leaning on the crib rail fast asleep. I  watched him for awhile, then went in and Laid him down.  He immediately started crying, stood up and was out again in less than 1 minute...every once in awhile he will fuss turn his head and go back to sleep.  any other babies doing this? Poor kid...

  • He is officially down!  He fussed, I put him down and this time he stayed. Fingers crossed for a good nights sleep!

  • That is hilarious!

Not to be a downer...but this immediately made me wonder if he might have an ear infection? I know my LO wouldn't sleep laying down when he had an ear infection. Just a thought :-)

Yes, it's crossed my mind. I am really hoping not, if he doesn't sleep well tonight we may have to go get those ears checked tomorrow.

  • My LO has been pulling up on the couch, resting his head on the cushion and dropping his arm to his sides, looking like he is about to nap. All the while standing up against the couch.

I know his two top teeth are about to push through but I don't know if that has anything to do with his new resting standing thing.

  • That is too cute.  When we first started Sleepeasy LO would stand up and cry at the railing of the crib.  Eventually she would sit back down and fall asleep sitting up or slumped over.  H and I were freaked out because she was in weird positions.  After about an hour she would lay herself down.  Now we just let her fall asleep in whatever position she wants.
