Success after IF

I hate TTC.

I was so excited to have ewcm for the first time EVER last week (a la my previous TMI post), but after having sex once with it we couldn't follow up with any more because I had some serious pain for two days, to where it hurt to sit/stand (if I had been doing treatments I would've thought I had OHSS or something, but I think it was just fun s/e from the Metformin).

So now I'm just counting the days for AF so we can get this show on the road again, lol! I don't want to head back to the RE yet but I'll be ready to in a couple months. I'm such a control freak and really trying to not live by the calendar -- and I'm much better about it this time around, but still.

Please tell me I'm not the only one!

Re: I hate TTC.

  • I had an IF vent post recently, too. I feel for ya! Here's hoping for a surprise BFP, but if that's not the case, sending positive vibes for a good sit down with the RE!

I am just curious but did you do any charting this month? I am one of those unlucky people who gets horrible pains in my abdomen when I ovulate.  I remember back in the day when I used to chart and use opk's (feels like another lifetime ago) I was able to confirm it.  I would get the same horrible type of pain every month around the same time (and it would be a few days after and during getting ewcm).  If you aren't used to what that feels like maybe there is a possibility that is what the pain was from? I am not trying to get your hopes up but just wanted to throw it out there as a possibility. FX that if things don't work out this cycle that it is a sign of your body working! :)

That was my first thought too.  I don't ovulate very often, but when I do it always surprises me how much it hurts.  GL!

Also, yes, TTC with IF sucks.  Why can't it be fun like it is for those fertiles?

  • Thanks, ladies...and yes, I thought that maybe there was some ovulation pain in there as well.

It started out feeling like that but was more in the middle than on the sides. I'd get a quick stabby pain on both sides for a quick second, but it was like a swallowed a balloon that was smooshy.

Even so, there's just no way that one time that whole time could do it, even though I know that's the whole point, so I'm not hoping, lol!

Thanks again for letting me vent!

  • And no, I'm not charting. I really don't want to go down that road. The control freak in me just loves it too much, so I'm just trying to try without it, lol.

  • Not the only one at all. I HATE IF too!!! I have an IUI tomorrow and Im so worked up over it that Im super grumpy. I hate that I have to be on different hormones that jack my emotions up. Will all this work be worth it in the end, you bet ya! But I loathe the process. Im grateful others on this board get it.

FX for a surprise BFP for you!!!

  • I understand completely. We are in the middle of trying TTC#2. This is my 3rd medicated cycle and I hoped for a surprise before we returned to the RE but no luck.

It puts me in an unhappy place away when someone announces they are pg. Before we were trying again I wasn't sensitive to it but now I am again. My DS is a little younger than your DC so I feel like there is a sense of urgency because I do want my children less than 3 years apart.

This time around with the RE it is different. I don't pay as much attention and obsess over it quite as much. Thats not to say im not POAS from 9dpo to 13dpo, because I do but I'm just busy with DS the days fly by.

I hope you get a surprise in the months to come and don't end up having to go back to the RE!

Thank you! And I feel like going to the re won't be as bad like you said because I'm busy with dd.

    Good luck to you!

  • You know I got pregnant with Hadley by having sex ONCE in about a 10 day period, right? :) We'd been told that I hadn't responded to the clomid, so we canceled the IUI. We were gearing up to start provera and a new cycle when we got back from our vacation and got the BFP. Anything is possible!!

  • Lol, I know! ; But you are the sweet exception! Went to the dollar tree to buy a test just for the hell of it but they were out! It's a sign.

And now yesterday today I've been having cramps, way more than usual. I think the Met effed me up...which I guess is good that maybe my body is starting to act how it's supposed to!
