Our 1st wedding anniversary will be here on June 2nd! What do you ladies do for anniversaries? Do you exchange gifts? Or just cards? I think we are just going to go out to eat and tell each other we're great. Just wondered what most people do.
For our one year, we took a 3-day weekend. We went downtown and visited some museums and had dinner downtown. The next day we went to the covered bridge festival. On our actual anniversary, we went over to my parents for dinner and had a anniversary tier from the cake.
This October, we'll probably just go out to dinner somewhere. I might see if DH wants to go to the Colts game the weekend before.

We don't do gifts for anniversaries or birthdays so we can really do it up big for Christmas. We just went out to dinner. And we went on a trip that month so we kinda considered it an anniversary trip.
It depends on the couple though. I know ppl who have made a huge deal out of their first anniversary. That's justnot our style.
For our 1 year, we went back to Mexico for a week. This year, we'll probably do dinner out, nothing crazy. I don't want to do gifts, but DH never listens to the "no presents" rule so I'm sure there will be small presents.
Happy Almost Anniversary! We exchange gifts and take a trip together. Even if we don't have much time we try to do something just us two. This year I could only spare two days so we spent a weekend at a B&B in a little tourist town. We both have hectic schedules so the most important thing for us is setting aside time to make new memories and have new experiences together.
For our one year we took a long weekend trip to Gatlinburg. This year we decided to stay in. We love making breakfast for dinner but rarely do it during the week and never make big breakfasts on the weekend either. Instead of going out we decided to stay home and make a big breakfast for dinner. We watched older episodes of The Office which was fun because that's what we did all through college. While taking a trip was fun, it was also nice to stay in this anniversary too!
We just went to Disney for the weekend with my family and wore our little a anniversary pins. I've been thinking of that as our unofficial anniversary trip. Since both of our birthdays are so close to our anniversary, I just can't justify spending money on gifts. I think I will do a card though. Maybe we will do little trips every year like some of you suggested. Oh! And I had forgotten all about our cake! I wonder if it will taste good. Freezer burn???
We typically do cards and a large joint gift or vacation. Last year we went to Disney, this year we bought a house as our anniversary "gift".
On our actual anniversary I recreate the meal we had at our reception (fried chicken, green beans, and mac&cheese). Then I make a lemon cake for dessert since our wedding cake was lemon flavored. It's been a fun tradition to keep up.

That's sweet! DH and I had NO time to eat at our reception. We had to order a pizza to our hotel room. Maybe we could have pizza every year! I'm so glad you posted that!!!
My one year anniversary was a few weeks ago and what we did was, we spent the day at the park where we got married, went out to one of our favorite restaurants and then exchanged "paper" gifts.
I got dh these scratch maps from uncommon goods...they were not crazy expensive but he likes to travel so I thought it would be something fun we could hang up and mark where we have traveled.
He got me a "Why I love you" journal and started filling out all the little sections in it. Very cute and sentimental. He also got me (us) a little water color painting that says "love carries all", which was also very cute.
We didn't go crazy with expensive gifts, but something small and thoughtful and we stuck with the tradition of paper.
Some of these ladies had some really great, sentimental ideas when I was asking for gift ideas though!

We didn't exchange anything. We took two nights in Toronto (only an hour away anyway, we go there all the time haha) and called it our Anniversary. We were there to search for furniture so it really wasn't very exciting. I think the most romantic we did was catch a performance of Beauty and the Beast and watch an outdoor movie in Dundas Sq. Also, we didn't even come away with any furniture.
I worked on a giant shadowbox for DH for a couple of months before the first anniversary. It included things from all phases of our relationship lol, all the way back to high school, up to the wedding. I also had a mini version of our wedding cake made, since we got married in Vegas and didn't save a tier of cake. And of course, I got him a card.
We didn't go out of town or do anything like that though. I honestly don't remember if we even went to dinner!
Found a pic of the setup I did for when he got home that day, hopefully this works:
We just did cards, small gifts, and a nice dinner. I would love to go on a small trip, but we already travel a lot to visit family so we don't really have the extra time or money right now.

Happy Anniversary! For our firt anniversary we took a walk at the place we had our engagement pictures taken and got a few drinks and did apps. It was low key, but a perfect afternoon of reminiscing.
For our one year anniversary, we bought a two storey house. We didn't do much else because there wasn't a lot of money that month. We just kept it low key and went to our favourite place for dinner that day.
For our 1st anniversary, I gave DH a book that I made using pictures from our honeymoon. It's a pretty big coffee table book that we leave out in the living room. We did an unplanned roadtrip of CO, and I made the back cover of the book a map of CO, with our route outlined in red and I included little x's to mark the places where we stopped act like newlyweds. Everyone has asked what the x's signify and we always just tell them that they're scenic overlooks/historic places, etc. Only DH and I know what they actually are. He got me diamond studs.
For our 2nd anniversary, DH was out of town for so we celebrated the following weekend with a trip to the beach. I have no clue what we're going to do this year.
Up until DS, we saved our yearly vacation for the week of our anniversary. We didn't exchange gifts, because we both love to travel and love making memories in new places!

Our first wedding anniversary is June 1st. We plan to go back to the town where we got married. They have a huge zip line course that goes over the lake and is beautiful, so we plan to do that and then stay in our honeymoon suite from the night of our wedding. We got to the room about 1AM and had to leave for the honeymoon at 6 am!!! So, we didn't get to enjoy it very long and it's a gorgeous room with a beautiful view of Lake Michigan. So, yeah- we are going back to our wedding night room, doing some zip lining and plan to do a nice dinner. I bought him Tigers tickets for the traditional "paper" first year gift. We don't plan to do much every year, but wanted to really celebrate our first year! GL and Happy Anniversary!!!
It depends on the year. Some years we just do small gifts and a really nice dinner out, sone years we take a day trip or a weekend vacation. Last year we moved on our anniversary, which sucked. This year, we are treating ourselves to a big, week-long vacation. We felt like six years was a good one to celebrate, and we'd like to have one last big, romantic vacation before I get knocked up.
ETA: For our first anniversary, DH took me to one of the nicest restaurants in town, and then surprised me the next morning with a kitten. It was perfect.
For our 1 year, we bought watches for each other. Not traditional, but we both wanted a nice watch and knew it would be a nice way to remember the first anniversary. We also went back to the hotel we stayed at the night of our wedding (we also got married at the hotel, and the hotel offers a half-off discout card every year on your anniversary if you get married there). We ate the top of our wedding cake (which was freakin delicious except for some of the icing being a touch dry), drank champagne and I even slipped into the lingerie I wore that first night as well.
Our 2nd is coming up and we have NO CLUE what to do. We are considering going and getting tattoos for the first time together (not matching ones, FYI), but other than that we are out of ideas. We also don't live in the same city we got married in anymore, so the hotel is out as well.

Our first wedding anniversary is Sunday. DH and I are going to Vegas in June and that is our anniversary present to each other. We will exchange cards and go out to dinner on Sunday.
For our anniversary we go to dinner at the restaurant we went the night H proposed. We do cards and traditional anniversary gifts as well. It might seem like a lot to do for an anniversary but we don't give each other birthday gifts, so that kind of balances it out.

Thanks!! I spent A LOT of time on it. Honestly, I would've never known where to even start if it hadn't been for my sister in law!

We usually go out for a fancy dancy expensive dinner :-) I like to get dressed up and my husband (he is a chef) loves a good meal.
