Happy Monday!! Im 26 weeks pregnant & have bought nothing so far : ))
Yea yea I know.. I need to get on it. So Im def looking at the top 10 car seats etc that this website suggests. I will also go see what strollers seem easy to move around...
What car seat/strolller SETS do you suggest? Or why you don't like sets? I kinda feel like this is one of the most important purchases.. So tell me what you think plzz
Thanks : )))
Re: Need Your Advice on carseat/stroller Sets
You might try posting this on the Nurseries & Baby Gear boards to get more responses.
I live in the midwest where everyone drives every where. So the carseat was way more important to us than the stroller. We ended up getting a Graco Snugride 30 for my car and a Chicco Keyfit 30 for DH's car. We loved both. I would say the benefit of the Chicco is it's super easy to install. The benefit of the Graco is it's a bit lighter. Both have held up well after 7.5 months of daily use. Both have good sized canopies to keep sun out of baby's eyes.
I usually wear LO in a carrier when we are out and about. We just bought one of the cheaper Graco strollers for the times when we go shopping and LO is alseep in the carseat. Almost all Graco carseats fit into almost all Graco strollers.
In general, you'll hear that the stroller/carseat sets are heavy & don't manuever well. Basically if you are wanting to save money on a stroller that you won't use much (like we did) buy separate. If you are wanting to get a nice (light, comfortable to push, etc.) stroller because you will use it a lot buy separate. The only benefit I see to a set is if you were planning on buying that model of stroller and carseat anyway.
GL to you!
This is what we did too. I bought the Graco Snugride 35. It is heavy, but DH & I are very big people so carrying it is not an issue. I wanted the 35 so she could use it longer. The Snap-n-Go was the best gift we received. DD fell asleep in the car almost immediately for the first 4 months of life so I just opened the lightweight stroller frame popped in the carseat and never woke her.
We used the City Mini GT for walks in the beginning since it can lay flat and use it for outings now that she stays awake in her carseat. I can also close it and open it one handed while holding DD.
I personally, hate the SETS. The strollers are too big and heavy. The wheels are small and don't maneuver very well. The only benefit is that they look pretty since the fabric matches.

We had a Graco Snugride with a Baby Trend Snap n Go stroller. I absolutely loved it, because I could lift the Snap n Go out of the trunk and unfold it in 10 seconds with one hand. I also loved that we could walk or drive him around to fall asleep for naps, then lift the carseat right out and into the house. We just gave up the infant seat and Snap n Go last week, so I feel 8 months of daily use was a good investment.
The only nice thing about travel systems is you can use the stroller for both the infant and toddler stage, instead of having to upgrade to a new stroller once they outgrow the infant seat. That's not really a big deal, I just hate researching and shopping for new baby gear every few months.
We registered for and received a Graco travel system. The car seat with multiple bases was awesome. I've used the stroller three times. I babywear most often, so there's that, but also, the stroller takes up half my trunk and I had to buy a second stroller to jog with. Pain in the butt.
If I could do it over again, I would have only registered for the carseat and extra base.
Thanks Guys... I will def window shop and try the strollers out..
Thanks : ))
I bought a travel system (Chicco) with the Chicco key fit 30. I love the carseat, but wish that I had registered for the BOB revolution SE. I am a runner and ended up buying it anyways. If I had known that you could get the carseat adapter for it I wouldn't have bothered with the travel system.
