22 week ultrasound?

I just went in for my 16 week checkup and they scheduled my ultrasound for 22 weeks instead of 20 is that normal?

With my first pregnancy I had twins and preE that started around 20 weeks so I had a LOT of ultrasounds. Everything is going good this time it just seems weird that they are doing it at 22w cause I thought the anatomy scan was supposed to be done between 18 and 20 weeks.

You should ask your doctor. Maybe they didn't have any openings during your 20-21 weeks? Probably not a huge possibility, but it could happen. Call the office and ask.

I have heard of them being done as late as 24 weeks. You will be fine. The further along you are the better chance they have of getting the pictures they need the first time.

There were no scheduling conflicts the doctor just wrote down to do it in 6 weeks... I am not worried about it its just different the first time I got the AS at 18 weeks and everyone else I am talking to gets them right at 20 weeks. I just wish we could find out what it is sooner. We are hoping to get new carpet in the upcoming weeks and I really wanted to be able to paint the room before it was installed.

They do them between 18-22 weeks. With DS I was 21w4d at my anatomy scan and it was fine.

I'm going for my a/s this Thursday at 22 weeks 4 days so I think you'll be fine!

It all depends on when they can fit you in. They probably did not have any openings until then. I know it sucks waiting longer, but it is not going to harm you or the baby to wait the extra two weeks.

While I didn't have any issues with DD, I had my anatomy scan at 22 weeks - just happened to be when it fell because I started appts at 6 weeks due to a prior ectopic. The wait for that time was horrible bc I kept thinking to myself "I could have had the scan by now and seen baby/known everything was still going well". But if nothing else, it was almost more fun because LO was a little more developed vs the 20 week I got with DD.

If you're really anxious or curious as to why the extra wait, maybe call and ask your doctor's office?

It's fine. Better later than too early. The more developed baby is the better look they get at all the vital structures.

My doctor will only do the anatomy scan between 20 and 22 weeks.

i think they normally do them between 18 and 22 weeks, so it should be fine.

I had one at 20 weeks and I get another one around June 24 so around 27 or 28 weeks. But, my 20 week one they couldn't get any good pictures it kept wigglingaround. But, I am hoping that they can get good pictures this time around
