So...DH and I are taking DS to a baseball game tomorrow (Monday) night. It starts after 7:00pm. I am incredibly strict about bedtime (goes down around 7:30), but this is a one-time thing, and I've fully accepted that my Tuesday might be horrible with a cranky toddler. DH's favorite team is in town this week, but they are only doing evening games. Otherwise, we would have done an afternoon game.
But really, DS hasn't been going to sleep until closer to 9:00 for about a week anyway - not sure why. He's so incredibly tired, but just parties in there. So...it's not like he'll be getting that much less sleep than he has been getting....right?
Our seats are close to the kids' play area, so I can take him over there. I will be perfectly happy to walk around with him if he gets fidgety. We just don't have a lot of opportunities left for family time, just the three of us.
Any advice? Words of wisdom? I plan to put him in his pjs before we head home since he'll probably fall asleep in the car, but that's the only thing I've come up with so far to make things less crazy.
Re: tell me we're not crazy...
As for advice,cI'd say bring a stroller and plenty of snacks. You are going to be just fine.
I'm glad to know some of y'all have done this -- we just never ever stay out late, and I really want it to be a fun night.
Like PPs said, I think you'll be fine! You'll be surprised, he'll have so much fun looking around and people watching, he'll forget that it's bedtime. And I know what you mean about getting time for just the three of you...I think I may be driving all three of us nuts trying to fit in family outings while we still have our current flexibility and schedule!
Hope you have a great time!
