Has anyone else's doctor recommended the Tdap vaccine during pregnancy? My OB strongly encouraged it at my last appointment.
I was surprised, because I just got one about a year ago. When I mentioned to my primary care doctor (different doctor than my OB), that we might start TTC, she gave me the vaccine as a precaution saying that I COULDN'T get it during pregnancy. I trust my OB and also did some research on the CDC's website, but was just curious what others had experienced/planned to do. Thanks!
Re: Conflicting Doctor Info - Ok During Pregnancy?
2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14
I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

The current recommendation is for pregnant to get a Tdap vax, regardless of their vax history between 27 and 36 weeks gestation. It helps for mom to pass immunity onto baby before baby is born.

Thanks! I saw on here that the recommendation just changed in October 2012, which would explain why my primary care doctor gave the conflicting info since I saw her last summer. I didn't realize the change was that recent.
The current recommendation is to get it during 3rd tri, to share immunity with the babe. Regardless of your last immunization. Specifically the pertussis aspect.
OP, are you sure it wasn't MMR? I had to have my titers drawn for something before we TTCed, but I can't remember what exactly. For some reason I'm thinking MMR.
My OB said I got mine about a year ago and that it was time for me to get it. Good to know that I can postpone it til baby gets here
My OB always recommends it in the 3rd Trimester.
Yes, the recommendations changed very recently. When DD was born in Oct 2010, both DH and I got our boosters in the hospital. But now, they recommend getting a booster in 3rd tri to share immunity with the baby, even if your DTap is current. I'll be getting mine at either 32 or 34 weeks.
Remember to ask other caregivers (grandparents, partner, siblings, etc.) to get their boosters, too!

It was definitely Tdap - I think she did ask me about my MMR history as well and I was good to go with that one. I'm guessing the issue is that I saw primary care doc before the new recommendation came out.
I had mine just over a year ago. Right after giving birth... First time it was mentioned to me as well.
