Hi,
I just discovered these boards tonight. I am brand new to this whole infertility game. Like most people probably, I just kind of assumed that when the time was right, I'd get pregnant. Not so much. We started trying about a year and a half ago, and at 6 months I talked to my ob/gyn. Did the lab work, the HSG and all that. FSH high, and referred to reproductive endo.
Repro/Endo said that my ovaries are aging faster than my actual age, and that I probably have a smaller window than most people my age (37). So she recommended IUI with injectables for 2 cycles, and then to move on to IVF. Thankfully my state has very good coverage for infertility services.
I started Gonal last week, and am due to trigger Sunday night with IUI Tuesday. I understand what they are going to do... but have deliberately NOT been googling anything because I don't want to read anything that will crush my hopes or scare the you-know-what out of me. This is why I haven't been on these boards. I should have been because you all seem so helpful and supportive.
This whole process is completely overwhelming. Still up until I got my period this month I was hoping, praying, begging that it would just happen on it's own. I still don't know if I'm making the right decisions. I keep asking myself all kinds of stuff like "is this God's way of telling me this isn't right for me" and "How do I know if my eggs are good or if a baby would be severely damaged?" Until I get to the IVF stage, no one knows how "good" my eggs are. I know no one who has done IUI successfully, but it must have some success or they wouldn't do it! And I also know no one who has done IVF successfully either. All of my friends and family have barely tried, and the ones who have done infertility measures were unsuccessful.
Just wanted to say thank you for all of the helpful information. I'm still working on deciphering some of these acronyms!
Re: brand new here
Siggy warning
Hi and welcome.
I'm not in the same situation as you but just wanted to say, I do personally know several people who have been successful with Clomid/IUI/IVF.
Best wishes as you TTC.

I don't know much about any of it yet. I don't want to read about it unless I have to go that route.
Are you temping, and charting. You should start of course I can't remember what your post said. Lol. W temping you will know when you have Oed.
Good luck to you and everyone on her has been wonderful. Nice place to come if you have questions need to vent.
Hi Jungle welcome and good luck. I have been on this board quite a few months and we have ladies who have moved over to the pregnant>35 from both IVF, IUI and spontaneous BFP! THere is also a board called pregnany after IF, so it can help!
The whole IF thing is unfair and ov erwhelming, just take a deep breath and go one day at a time, the shots look overwhelming but become rather easy to handle, so deep steadying breaths.
Only you and your partner can decide if infertility treatment are right for you, and how many of them and everything else is a very personal topic.
best of luck!!!

Welcome JungleJ,
Yes, there are quite a bit of women that have been successful with IVF, IUI and Clomid treatments, as the other women have said....hopefully, that will give you some reassurance and allow you to breath and relax. We all understand the overwhelming process this thing called IF/TTC is.....and, it is so nice that we all band together on this board to be there for one another. This board is full of knowledgable, supportive and fun women that makes this journey a lot more manageable to go through.....
Best of luck with your IUI, keep us posted.....and again, welcome to the board.
Oh, Heather gave you that reference link to the acronyms, if there is one that is not on there or you want clarification.....just ask us. That's what we are here for....eachother!
i have not been down the RE route yet so i dont have advice about that but i have to tell you that it is worth all the blood, sweat and tears to become a mother. if it is truely what you want try every option you have. just because you cannot become pregnant without a little help doesnt meen you souldnt be a parent. keep going. this board if full of very supportive women.
good luck

Oddly I'm very stressed about: his part of the procedure and his stress, and the drive/traffic going into the city. I'm NOT all that stressed about the actual procedure. I am also stressed (a little) about NOT being able to drink wine for the next few weeks!
welcome and good luck- I know it is all overwhelming!
You might lurk/post also on the TTTC or infertility board- that is where I get most of my advice and questions answered about IF treatments.
