Trouble TTC

Clomid dosage variables?

Just wondering if anyone knows if there are any indicators as to what dosage of Clomid a person will respond to. Height and weight?  Conditions like PCOS?  Age?

Thanks ladies, just curious since I'm on day 3 of 50 mg. for the first time. So far so good except for that I cried four times during the season finale of Grey's Anatomy.

I don't really know, but would imagine it is a balance of a lot of factors that would result in the best response. The human body is complex and mysterious!

Hell, I cried four times during Grey's finally too...of course I was PMSing.

But no, there is no way to tell.  And you might respond one way one cycle, and different another on the same dose.  The body is a funny (not really ha ha funny) thing.  I did not have PCOS, I ovulate on my own and started taking clomid at age 33 with a size 14 body, I just have a LPD thus why the meds (along with to help time IUI with MFI issues).  I responded with two to three follies each cycle.  That's not to say every 33 year old of my height, weight, and DX will have the same outcome.  My IRL IF friend had mild PCOS, was 31, and a size 18 and responded great to 100mg.   ::::shrugs:::

Sorry, but you just won't know anything until your mid cycle monitoring when they tell you the size of your follies.

  • Thanks for the info, bummer that you can vary even from one cycle to the next : / Fingers crossed as I down my pomegranate juice.

katib - I completely lost it when the bus blew up while Jackson was trying to save the little girl!

  • I was on 100mg each of my 5 rounds.  I'm 5'7 and 170 without any sort of ovulation issue.  3 times I had 2 follies, 1 time I had 3, and my last cycle only gave me 1 :(  FX for you!

  • If you look at my siggy, I responded differently each cycle. I have PCOS. I didn't respond to 50. I responded to 100. And then I didn't. I responded to 150. And then I got a cyst. And then I didn't respond at all to Femara. Huh? Ugh.

  • It is soooo variable, its crazy. From what I've seen and most of my experience is that they start with a low dose and move up from there.

    GL!

*Possibly starting clomid in Sept or Oct

  • Everyone is different.  I took all the way up to 200mg before clomid worked for me.  My only issue is that I do not ovulate on my own.  Sorry, it really is no easy answer but it is just a waiting game for now.  I do wish you the best with everything and I hope you find that 50mg worked for you!  Sending good thoughts your way **hugs**
  • I'm like britt. I don't ovulate on my own...  The few times that I have is 1-3 days before af. I'll be doing 150 next time around. I haven't responded to several months of 50 and 100.

A side note it makes me a crazy lady!   I was mean depressed weepy and anxious. Ugh. My re didn't adequately prepare me for that one.
