Hi ladies. I am usually a lurker on the TTC over 35 board but wanted to come by to ask you ladies a question. Let me start with a brief background of myself. I apologize that I am not totally in tune with the abbreviations so I may have to spell some things out.
I am 36 years old and married to the love of my life. We just got married May 31, 2008 and decided recently to TTC (although I am nervous as hell about being pregnant!). I stopped taking my birth control pills in early September which means October was my first full month off of the pill. Sept was a normal period which started on the 8th or 9th as usual. Oct was the same way. Nov we went on our delayed honeymoon to Australia and I had my reg period starting Nov 9 but then had "another" period (bleeding that was consistent with a period) about a week later. Here we are in December.
So, about a week and a half ago I started feeling "funny". Sorta like butterflies in my belly. Then, when I was doing crunches at the gym, I started feeling dizzy. For the last week or so I have felt "ick" kinda like upset belly, a lot of indigestion and feeling faint from time to time. It progressed and I decided that I would wait to see if I started on the 8th or 9th before I took a test. Well, those dates have come and gone with absolutely no signs of AF on her way.
Ok, to add to my "symptoms", I have been experiencing some mild cramping (not period like) in my lower abs. Also feeling some discharge from time to time which makes me think I am starting when, in fact, it is just clear.
Anyway, I took a test this morning (EPT brand - not digital), and it turned out negative. I think where I am confused is that I seemed to have had two periods in November (the second set of days with blood) so I am not sure which one to go by. And the fact that I seem to have many of the early pregnancy symptoms (which I know can be contributed to other things as well). Plus, I am pretty realistic that it couldn't happen THIS fast after being off the pills (right?). I guess what I am asking you ladies is this - is it possible I may have tested too early? Has this happened with any of you? I know the obvious answers are - wait another week and test again (which I will with a digital test), talk to your doctor and we can't see into your uterus (you can tell I have lurked for a while). I am just trying to get your feedback from your experience.
Thanks in advance!

I would think that you?d have a BFP by now (esp if the symptoms you?re having are PG-related), but maybe not, if your period was doing weird things in relation to coming off the pills. I?d give it a couple of days and test again. Fingers crossed!
Thanks to both of you for your feedback. It is very much appreciated. I am just going to enjoy the weekend with my husband and his daughter and try again next week. I added Part 1 to the subject line because, when and if I ever do get pregnant, I am sure I will be back to bug you!
Thanks again! And congratulations to both of you!
I haven't formally introduced myself around here but have been lurking & occasionally posting for a few weeks. I'll have to do an intro sometime soon because the longer version is rather humorous. But it's pretty long...
The short version of my story is that I had 3 Neg tests prior to getting a positive one. Starting a few days before AF. I took tests 3-4 days apart. Just when I had decided I must not be PG I took another test (about 10 days after AF expected) & was surprised to see it was +. That one was super faint. The regular ones stayed that way a few days. I think I took at least 4 more tests after getting a + result though now the memory is a little hazy no it may have been more. BUT the digi one on the day of 1st + pretty much left me with little doubt. My advice based on my quirky experience is: if in doubt to go ahead & spend a little extra for the digi version.
