Trying to Get Pregnant

TTC and got my first OPK! But...

I'm nervous! We have been trying for a couple months and this is the first time I have gotten a positive opk. Sadly, I won't see him until tomorrow afternoon due to work schedules. Is there still hope for this cycle? We bd'd yesterday but lost a good bit of it. Hoping someone will say that a bfp could still be in the cards for us but if you find it unlikely I'd rather not have false hope.

Thanks!

Re: TTC and got my first OPK! But...

  • OPKs usually mean that you are about to ovulate in the next 12 - 48 hours (correct me if I'm wrong please). So...if you hump it out like rabbits tomorrow, it may be perfect timing. Have fun ;)

  • It's a long story. He has an illness that does not affect his sexual function but makes it so we have to do things in an unorthodox manner.

How do you lose a good bit of it?You had yesterday, and then again tomorrow which makes every other day which is what is recommended. So not sure what you think the issue is.

    Yes

1-2 days before O is optimal timing.  Positive OPK means .5-1.5 days before O so HIO tomorrow afternoon and assuming you O your timing should be great.

Many couples just do EOD...so I don't think you are out for this cycle.

That's such a relief! Thank you!

And thank you rgiertz!! DH and I would be so elated if we were successful this cycle. DH especially, because of the health issue. We sure would love to have a little joy come into our lives to love. He's been through so much.

  • Cancer treatments have left him immunosurppressed for the rest if his life so direct contact isn't a great idea.

And no, it's also not because I have any disease. It's mainly just us being super cautious. I'd hate for him to get a uti or something. People take their immune systems for granted!

I'm sorry to hear that. If you don't mind me asking what type of cancer?

So basically, you guys don't have intercourse, the semen is "put in" by you?

  • It's a blood cancer. I'd rather not go into more detail on the offchance that someone could identify him from my posts. He is a shy guy and would be embarrassed to know I was sharing our TTC info!

    Thanks for the kind words.

Well I wish you both the best of luck. Like I said before, with that + OPK today, tomorrow will be perfect timing. GL!

  • Sounds like your timing should be ok.

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's cancer.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but when you say "we bd'd" what does that mean?
