Mold in sippy cup straws

How do you guys clean the inside of the straws? We have the Playtex and Munchkin brand. I always wash everything thoroughly and put it on the bottle drying rack, but the inside of the straw never seems to get all the way dry and eventually black mold starts to grow. I've tried getting in there with a nipple brush but it's too big. Soaking and the dishwasher does not reach the mold either. Is there such thing as replacement straws? Suggestions please!

Bleachy, soapy water soak followed by the use of a pipe cleaner which I have around for kiddie crafts.

That happened to our sippy cup straws as well. I just decided to buy plastic straws and use them instead.

I bought a brush made for straws, it's thinner than a nipple brush and has a long handle.

I'm sure the pipe cleaners will work fine, but where did you buy this?

We have Playtex ones. I always make sure to take the sections of the straw apart to wash and dry. I haven't had a problem other than with one that accidentally got left in the cooler with BM in it. We soaked really well separated, scrubed with a pipe cleaner like the ones PP suggested, and repeated a couple of times before it finally was cleaned out.

We also use the Playtex straw cups and have never had a problem with mold. Like you said, we always take the straws apart and don't put them back together until they're dry.
