Mosquitoes?

What do we do about them when we're outside with the littles? I've lived in the desert too long. Now I'm in Massachusetts where they're effing everywhere. Mil has bug repellant but that stuff kills pets. I'm not wearing it when baby boy is licking everything and his fave chew toys is me. What are you guys doing?

    We have one of those fans that we plan on using. I may try to find a mosquito net to fit over the stroller too.

    Someone just mentioned on FB that tea tree oil repels bugs. That might be an idea.

    I was just going to suggest tea tree oil! I use it as anti bac too. If you google essential oils that repel mosquitoes I think you'll find there's a few out there that do the trick.

    We used this stuff on my niece when we went to Nebraska. All natural. Non toxic. Worked well!

    We use the Burt's Bees stuff, which I think is non-toxic, but it stains your clothes, so be careful.  Mostly we stay in during the dusk hours which is when the bites are worst here.  Empty all the open containers of water (e.g. tires, etc.) in your area.  This year seems worse than most in my area--heavy rains a few weeks ago contributed, I think.  Tonight I Amazon-ed options, and you can get covers for your pack and play or little pop-up tents for the beach or your yard so your LO is in a mosquito net.  Might be okay if you're going to Africa and need bedtents for everyone, but I'm not sure your LO will want to be so isolated during the day.  Perhaps good for a nap if your older LOs are playing in the yard or something.
