Re: Sloane or Quinn

  • I really like both names, but I think I prefer Sloane. It's unique and strong.

  • If I had to pick it would be Sloane but I hate to be honest and say these are two names I just don't get for girls.   Seem masculine to me.

Honestly, when I read the post title I thought it was referring to a boy

  • Quinn Elizabeth. Not a fan of Sloane, makes me think of Farris Bueller. And Jacqueline kinda rhymes with Quinn...so no.

  • Sloane is too masculine sounding for a girl (not that i like it for a boy either) . Quinn is a name that is starting to grow on me . I like Elizabeth as a middle name.
  • imageTetonBaby:
Quinn Elizabeth sounds too much like Queen Elizabeth. That was honestly my first thought.

    This.

  • Both names are NMS, but I will vote for Sloane because I still feel that Quinn belongs on a boy.

I love the name Quinn! But I'm going to have to go with Sloane simply because I'm not crazy about the MN choices for Quinn.

Quinn Elizabeth sounds too much like Queen Elizabeth. That was honestly my first thought.

And with Quinn Jacqueline, I'm not a huge fan with both names ending with the in sound.

I definitely thought Queen Elizabeth too. I prefer Sloane Elizabeth out of your options.

  • Sloane is much much better than Quinn...which IMO is a boy name, but even with that aside Sloane just sounds prettier than Quinn.

I grew up with a girl named Sloane.  I have never heard it as a boy name, so I can see it on a girl just fine.

    I like Sloane Elizabeth.

Exactly. I thought it was going to be about a baby boy.
  • My daughter's middle name is Quinn and I love it. I think Sloane is a lot trendier and you might not like it in 10 years, where I believe Quinn will always be cute.
  • Sloane Elizabeth gets my vote

  • Quinn is do overdone at this point.  It's the female version of Max.  So, Sloane, but just know she's definitely cutting school to go to the museum with her boyfriend.

While I am not a huge fan of the name Quinn, to me Sloane is a last name and is VERY masculine sounding. So by default, Quinn Elizabeth

ETA: ...although reading the other posts, that does kind of sound like Queen Elizabeth. I still think I like it better than Quinn Jacqueline, though.

Even though I don't really like the name Quinn, I have only ever heard it on girls. So I tend to think the opposite of you. Sloane is totally boyish to me.
  • iEricaiErica member
Sorry, I don't prefer either for girls :(
  • I would go Sloane Elizabeth.  I know people are using Quinn on girls right now, but it's a boy's name.  If you use Sloane, your daughter has less of a chance of spending her whole life getting mail addressed to Mr. Quinn xxxx.
