Re: PG>35 Check-in
Hi, Ladies!
Updates: I've not been as active on the board lately because I've been wicked exhausted. But I'm lurking a bit and commenting when I can. I have 3 weeks left and am kind of hoping that my two-in-a-row weekend shifts coming up entice P?pite to consider coming out a little early. I'm getting more and more impatient to meet him/her-- not to mention it's hard to work 12 hours on my feet when I feel like I have to walk with my legs crossed to keep the baby in (not to mention that I have to pee so often that it's like my pee needs to pee)!
I have most of what I need already purchased for this baby-- just waiting for a few more things to arrive (more cloth diapers!) and for my work shower that I didn't know was going to occur. I'm very touched, but it's a bit late in the game (it's the 28th of May and I'm due June 4th) which makes me nervous about being able to get things sorted, prepped/washed, and thank you notes written before this baby arrives!
Other than that, I am just dealing with the impatience and the discomfort (and now also a vicious head cold). One of my friends delivered her child a few weeks ago and now my impatience to meet and hold this LO actually physically aches. LOL I never thought I'd be this sentimental.
QOTW: I don't think I've had any rude or strange comments when telling someone I was pregnant. I've had rude comments made when I've told people how far along I am-- ranging from "You barely look pregnant" (not cool since I have the 2 vessel umbilical cord, where adequate growth is a concern) to "you're pregnant?" (really, patient's sister? I'm effing 9 months pregnant with a clear taut, beach-ball-esque stomach and a severe waddle, but you think I'm just fat?!?) to "you're huge!" to "I don't remember being this tired or this sick when I was pregnant!" (yes, because you were 23 at the time, not 38)
Most of the obnoxious comments occurred, though, when I was struggling to get pregnant in the first place and after I had my loss.
My Ovulation Chart
We had an appt on Monday and listened to the heartbeat again, still strong. Yay! I am really showing now and it feels good to show off my bump. I need to put on some weight now as I lost 7 lbs in first tri.
I don't think anyone has made any rude comments upon hearing I'm expecting but one of my best friends said something the other day I really thought was unbelievable. She asked if I was thinking about names yet and I said I had started a list but we haven't talked about it yet. She said well it doesn't matter what he thinks anyway because the woman gets to name the baby. Um...huh?...WOW. I am sure it will take us awhile to agree on something but I still want hubby and I to name our child together. I thought her comment was very rude and disconnected. I would never be so selfish.
QOTW: Almost the first question most people ask when they find out I am pregnant with twins was it IVF? Or better yet "was it natural"? DH and I don't think the circumstances of conception are really anyone's business. I have discussed infertility with select people but it isn't common knowledge.
First check-in and will be a first time mom at 38 YO.
lmercil - 12/5/13
Not going to find out the sex, figure there are only a couple of real surpirses in life
Vent: Little frustrated (but mostly relieved) because the genetic counselor told use best option to be sure of defects was amnio so we planned on that, but in 1st OB appt yesterday when the OB asked what we were planning for testing and we told her amnio she looked at us like we were morons and asked why we would do that over the Verify test and an NT scan. Apparently the counselor hasn't been telling people about the Verify test because it is new. So we didn't know about it or that it was an option. Anyway not a big deal but was very akward when the OB whipped around and looked at us like we were crazy. The good news, we got to do the draw and will now find out results at 13 weeks instead of having to wait until 18-20. Plus we really don't want to tell anyone other than our bosses (we both had to already) until genetic testing is done, so this makes it alot easier (OB says I am short with a short torso, so starting to show already- DH sang "wish I was a little bit taller" to me last night lol).
So really turned into good news all around with the exception of the new lab tech who massarcred both of my arms trying to do the blood draw. I felt bad for her as she had to go call in someone else to finally do it and she was very sweet about it, but let's just say I have long sleeves in my future for the next few days.
QOTW: Haven't really told anyone other than my boss, but he gave me a high 5 which was very sweet and kind of akward all at the same moment. He was super excited for us, but definitely not the reaction I expected.
Thanks for letting me join in!
Congrats to the April and May new mommas and to all the soon to be mommas!
I am officially in the doldrums! The morning sickness is pretty much gone and I am not really showing yet - so I just feel normal right now!
QOTW: oh that would be a two way tie - actually these are the only rude things anyone has said at all!
1. After telling MIL she asked, very seriously "Was it a mistake?". Lovely.
2. When I told my aunt she pointed knowingly at my belly (this was about 9 weeks - there was nothing to see) and said "I thought that might be what was happening there". Basically telling me she noticed my belly fat.
Ah family...

Due date: 1/12/13
Sex of baby: no idea yet!
Updates/vents: this is my first pregnancy and I'm so anxious!
QOTW: none yet, only a few people know.
Updates: Fatigue is my main problem now. It's hard to sleep comfortably and I feel tired most of the day. I am still trying to get a little excercise by swimming laps b/c it just feels so great to be in the pool. I found out DH is going out of town for business the 1st week of June. Dealing with my daughter alone all week is going to be tough. Bath time is especially challenging, just bending down in the tub is a big strain on my back. Other than that alll is well, just starting to get anxious about meeting this little guy now that I feel I'm nearing the home stretch.
QOTW: My mother is the only one who has said anything that I've had issues with. I told at 9 weeks and she said "you're showing already!". At 12 weeks she told me it looked like I was having a big baby. Nice of her to make these comments about my bloat (thanks progesterone sups!). She made another comment about my size recently and I I just told her to stop it. For the record, DS has measured right on track so far, and so have I. Gotta love family.

Updates: I had my level II ultrasound last week, and everything went well. The doctor gave me and baby an A+, and said that she does not recommend any further extra testing due to AMA. DH and I were happy.
We went to our first class - infant CPR - this week. It's nice to have the information, but I found talking about all the terrible things that could happen to our baby, especially choking, quite unsettling.
QOTW: When I tell people I'm 20 weeks along, most women comment on how BIG I am, that I really "popped" early, and am I sure I'm not having twins. This is my first time pregnant so the comments were making me worried.
I asked the OB about this at my regular appointment yesterday and she said I'm doing just fine. My belly may be big due to fibroids, but mainly she told me that since I've only gained 11 pounds, I'm doing really well, and to tell those women to back-off!
I may be a little late on checking in, but I am here and I am approaching 40 with this being my 3rd pregnancy.

Any updates or vents? As of May 7th, I get a non-stress test on a weekly basis. I am almost down to weekly appointments....YAY!!
Question of the week: What is the rudest or strangest comment you have gotten when you told someone you were pregnant? How did you respond? At 28 weeks, I was asked if I was having twins. I was polite when I responded, this was a church friend of my parents. I told her "No, it's just the way she is laying that makes me look bigger".
Updates: We have our hospital tour tomorrow, which I'm excited about. Unfortunately I've already been in L&D with preterm contractions but just a triage room. I can't wait to see the birthing and recovery rooms. I'm in pain most of the time between a separated symphysis pubis and daily preterm contractions from an irritable uterus, but it's totally tolerable because I know we're in the home stretch and LO is continuing to flourish. Thankfully I start a half time schedule at work next week so that will be even better. I have lots of books to read on my days off!
QOTW: Thankfully I've not had comments that I think are rude or strange. I'm not one bit sensitive to size comments. Although I did find it interesting that it went from "You're so tiny!" to "You're getting so big!" in a matter of a couple weeks. But it's true, all of a sudden this belly is growing exponentially!
Hi Ladies! I am a newbie for this board. I just found out two weeks ago that I am pg and am over the moon!

Any updates or vents? I had the norovirus a week ago. It was horrible but all is ok. I haven't had morning sickness yet.
Question of the week: What is the rudest or strangest comment you have gotten when you told someone you were pregnant? How did you respond?
We haven't told anyone yet and I'm not showing, but I'm sure there will be comments in the future. People can be shockingly rude and ignorant about pregnancies.
Kimberly
Due: 9/21 1 day before my son's bday!
This is an unexpected blessing. This will be our 2nd child. My son is 6 and will be turning 7 around the time I'm due. We will have a scheduled csection. We have an appt on Tuesday 5/21 with a fetal specialist as our little one is small and although her spine looks perfect the doctor said her head is not 100 round so they want to proceed we the u/s to make sure nothing is wrong. We're having a girl!
QOTW: nothing rude but a few snickers in the office.
Hello everyone!! And congrats to the new mommies!
This is my official last week with the RE. I am so excited. I will get a video sonogram and weening plan for the progesterone pills. First OB appt is 6/4! 10 weeks today, so my due date has moved to 12/16/13.
Feeling good so far. Fighting heartburn and some lower back pain. Ready to get the first trimester down!

**If you?re already on the list, you don?t need to give this info again**
Any updates or vents? Have a doc appt tomorrow. Already had U/S at a little over 7 weeks, saw heartbeat. Am anxious because suddenly for the last 3 days I'm not all bloaty and showing and my boobs look "normal" so I am worried something is wrong. I don't know how to reassure myself but at least my appt is tomorrow so I dont have long to stress. This is my 3rd baby.
Question of the week: What is the rudest or strangest comment you have gotten when you told someone you were pregnant? How did you respond? My SO's aunt got really nasty over the naming issue, long story, but it was awful. I told him nasty things he should say to her sort of under my breath. Things I wish I would have actually said out loud. Rarely do I think I SHOULD NOT have bit my tongue, but this was one of them!
Hi there, I have been posting mostly in the December 2013 moms group, but wanted to start posting here as well.
Screen name: thirsty85 (i think?!)
due date: 12/30/13
Sex of baby: SURPRISE
Updates/vents: I am all over the place with symptoms, sometimes have them, then they vanish for a few days making me fear the worst... i guess just normal first tri fears!
What is the rudest or strangest comment you have gotten when you told someone you were pregnant? How did you respond? We haven't told anyone but close family and a few friends, so thankfully the response has been overwhelmingly wonderful.

Due date: 12/27
Question of the week: What is the rudest or strangest comment you have gotten when you told someone you were pregnant? How did you respond? "You actually wanted another baby so soon?" and when I answered yes they said "Well, you aren't getting any younger so I guess you had to." I just wanted my kids close together, my age had very little to do with it.
First name: Ellen
Due date 11/19/13
Sex of baby: don't know yet, but we will probably find out with all the extra testing.
Rudest thing : Sorry I had to be the one to tell you. From the ultra sound tech who didn't TELL me anything and quickly left the room so I thought my baby was dead!
How did I respond? That's okay we had already decided not to terminate, which is why we didn't do the extra testing and you didn't tell me last week.
