Anyone have their Placenta encapsulated?

This is my first pregnancy and I was reading a blog about how some women have their placenta's encapsulated to help with baby blues, the person writing the blog is east coast based so I was wondering if any of you local ladies have ever done this and/or have someone to refer me to. I have been googling but would love to hear from someone else before I make my final decision. I am in Pasadena FIY :)

Re: Anyone have their Placenta encapsulated?

  • I've heard the same thing and I am very interested in doing this. Are you going to use a midwife or doula? I'm considering doing a natural birth and using a midwife, but I'm due in November and I don't know if it's too late to set that up. If I really had things my way I'd do hypnosis and waterbirth. My sugaring specialist knows someone who had hers encapsulated and had a great experience. I will try to get you that info asap . Good luck with your pregnancy! xo
  • I have a regular OB but she is open to the concept which is nice. so far I have one person that I found in the LA area that does them and does not have to be your actual doula.

If do end up doing it. I'd love to hear about your experience. I HAVE to try this next baby. I had the worst baby blues with my first born.

  • A friend of mine referred me to Jill Capellino and I will be having my placenta encapsulation done by her in sept. She is based out of Orange county but will commute to LA. Im delivering at cedars and she says they dont have a problem releasing the placenta but you may want to check with your dr on the hospitals policy with that. You can search on google and get her email. she will provide you with all the info you need.  She has a flat rate of 250 for los angeles customers. good luck!

I will definitely Look her up, thank you!

  • I'm using Sara at mommy feel good in a couple of weeks. She has a great website & does a great job answering any questions you might have.

If you decide to do it, make sure to mention it to your provider - we just decided, and I mentioned it in passing to my OB. Turns out St Johns requires some additional blood work to release the placenta. Had I not brought it up, I would have been out of luck.

  • Thank you ill definitely bring it up at my next appointment
  • Hola,

I'm looking into Joni Lucarelli - my doula recommends her.$275-300.

  • I had it done with my first last year. I think it probably did help with both mood and energy and I would do it again. Joni Lucarelli was my doula and did the placenta encapsulation she's great. I would recommend doing it if you can because I figured if there was something I could do to avoid any serious postpartum issues, I would try it and I do think it was helpful.
