Bedtime problems

We sleep trained my 21 month old at 9 months with basically no problems. She has always had a few nights here and there where she fusses to go to sleep, but here lately it is every night for the past 2 weeks. It's only been crying once or twice, but the whining is driving me crazy.
We have the same routine and have no changed anything. I'm unsure as to what to do at this point. I hate that she's doing this every night to go to sleep and I've thought about an earlier or later bedtime, but I don't think that is the answer.
Any advice?

Re: Bedtime problems

  • Stick with it. Or change something small like read a book in bed or two if you alteady read one. But dont give in to much thats a recipe for disaster. I should know. Ds went from sleeping in his crib all the time to sleeping with me all the time. I love it and i don't all at the same time

  • Mine has been going to bed later and later - I blame it on the fact that it is still light outside when she goes to bed. I find that if I really take my time with bedtime routine she is most likely to go down. (Like 7 books and 3 songs, it's getting ridic), however, I work all day and I think bedtime routine is some time that she knows she gets my full attention. Do I feel manipulated by my toddler? Yes. Is it probably ok? Yes. Good luck!

Just stick with your routine. Once she gets that her whining isn't changing anything it will improve.

this.  My almost-18month old had a phase last month where she whined/talked/played for 30-60 minutes before falling asleep even though not a single thing was different.  Just in the last week or two, we're back to maybe 10 minutes of slight chatter before she falls asleep.
