My 12 month old suddenly hates bathtime.
He hated it when he was a newborn, but started having fun around 6 months. Lots of splashing and giggling...and now, he just screams, tries to stand up, and cries until it's over (ie: 90 second baths in our house right now).
Anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions? We have bath toys, we've tried music.
I use a thermometer to check the temp of the water--usually about 102 degrees. Should I be making it warmer? That's what he used to like.
Would love ideas!
Re: Hating bath time?
Asher screams sometimes when getting a bath. I have found that it happens on days he doesn't nap long enough. I thing he's overtired and the bath is just too much.
our DD went through this, but is already back to baths. she would have baths, i would be in the tub with her. around 3 months old she started to hate them and would cry and just get hysterical. so we used to shower. i would hold her, and she still LOVED the water, she just didn't want to be in the bath i guess. about a week ago, we did a lil inflatable pool for her cousin, and put her in it, and she just loved it. so we tried baths again the next day, and she loved them again.
strangest thing.... never could explain it
My DD always loved bath time, but around 11 months we went through 2 weeks of crying and clawing at me to get out resulting in 2 minutes baths. Then, she was back to loving it...
I don't have any explanation for you, but it may just pass as quickly as it started.
Crazy, I posted this question a few weeks ago!
My DS out of nowhere started doing the same thing around 11 months old when he got sick for a few days. We didn't want to force him to sit down since we didn't want to make bathtime associated with negative stuff. For a week or two he would cry and stand the whole time. Well 3 months passed and it didn't go away.
I had tried getting in the tub with him a few times during those 3 months but he would just cling on to me. Well I tried again but forced him to sit in between my legs and got all his bath toys around him and he started playing. The next night I got in again and sat him between my legs and snuck out after a few minutes and he was fine. The next night my husband put him in and he wouldn't sit down so my DH forced him to (lots of back arching and screaming) but once he sat down he remembered how much fun he was having. The day after that when my DH put him in the tub he plopped down and was sitting and playing and we haven't had an issue again.
