I make all of DS's food. When it comes to fruits, I give him all sorts of fruits as long as they're ripe and easy to mash (eg, banana, pear, mango, kiwi, very ripe cantaloupe, papaya, strawberries) and he has no trouble eating any of those.
However, when it comes to grapes, b/c of the skin, it's hard to mash. I try to cut them into very small pieces (like size of a rice grain), but DS always end up coughing when he eats it. I suspect he's not mashing those tiny pieces and they go down his windpipe? What do you do? Do you peel the grapes (seems like way too much trouble)!!!
Now that cherry season is upon us, I'd like him to have cherries too, but they post the same issue with the skin.
Any suggestions?

Re: Another fruit question
I like the idea of putting grapes in the mesh feeder. For cherries, I bought some frozen cherries a few weeks ago. I steamed them, then used a emersion blender to puree & ran it through a sieve to be sure sure I got the skins off.
You could try steaming fresh cherries and then peeling the skins off before mashing?!?!
