Baby Names

Elliana or Eliana

Hi everyone! Just wanted some baby-name board insight. The traditional spelling of the name is Eliana...we were thinking of spelling it Elliana so we could use Elli as a nickname more easily...is this spell change going to cause too many problems? I know it's just one extra letter, but I'm undecided...

  • The name is NMS, but I don't think that the spelling change would be that big of a deal. GL! :)

  • I'd stick with the traditional spelling (Eliana), and I see no reason why you still can't use Ellie as a NN.

    Agreed

  • I think Eliana is perfect the way it is. You can still shorten it to Ellie.

Yup, this. I'm Alexandria, and I go by Allie/Ally (only a unique spelling) even though there's only one L in my full name.

  • I prefer spelling it Eliana. I would not spell a given name based on a possible nickname. Like Patricia, with the nn Trish. No big deal, it's just a nn.

It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.

This exactly, my name is Deborah and as a child I went by Debbie, DS is Donald and we call him Donnie, lots of completely different letters.  Not sure why this keeps coming up as an issue at all.  DS

This. The extra L makes the name look ugly in my opinion.
