TTC after 35

On/Off Lurker, getting so close to TTC!

So just as I'm getting my new insurance plan in place for June 1st (switching to a new plan with a maternity rider), DH gets a job that offers medical benefits! We don't usually get traditional medical benefits in our line of work, I have bought my own insurance for years. We are essentially contractors, we work for a variety of companies and get hired for a project and laid off, hired and laid off, etc. DH has been moving up in the industry and finally got on with a company that is very selective. They work around the issue of us sometimes not working for a few weeks, don't know the details yet but they don't drop our insurance on us even when we're not working - they keep us covered! So now I have to see if my insurance company can void the upcoming maternity policy and extend my current policy by a month or two to be sure the work policy takes effect without a break in coverage.

The best part is the $aving$! My current plan is about $175/month. My pending plan was going to be about $750/month with $10K deductable with 0% co-insurance after deductable is met. The work plan will cover both of us (DH is otherwise covered by the VA but will be covered by the work plan as well now) for about $170/month. When we add a child, it will still stay under $200. We plan on me being a SAHM once I'm to pg to work (very physical job working outdoors 10hr days), so the lower cost is such a relief!!

I am so OMG excited that we are [thisflippingclose!] to being able to TTC!

It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.

  • I just had to blurt it out somewhere, we're not keeping all family fully up to date on our plans (I mostly just tell my sisters and BFF) and I'm so giddy and ready that I'm about to burst if I don't get to tell somebody!
