What age did you start giving your child puffs? I tried one of the mum mums that someone told me to get and i can't imagine baby chewing on it just yet. I'm nervous about giving him puffs or those mum mum's so soon..any advice?
The puffs and yogurt drops dissolve pretty quickly, they don't really need to chew them.
We started puffs and yogurt drops around 7 months. It was closer to 8 months when LO could actually successfully get them in his mouth by himself. Now at almost 9 months, we're moving to most of his regular solid food cut up about pea-size, not a lot of purees anymore.
We started mum mums and puffs around 6 1/2 months. Now at 7 months they are already picking them up and putting them in they're mouths by themselves. We just started the yogurt melts this week.

we've been doing mum mums a few weeks and DD loves them. We just started puffs last week and she loves them, but has some difficulty picking them up and putting them in her mouth. She really just knaws on them, and they dissolve when they're wet anyway, so there's not much to be scared of as long as you're watching.
DS was about 6 mos. when we started giving both. He really likes to chew on the mum mums when his gums are bothering him. He would crawl across the desert for a puff. He knows that I keep the puffs in his diaper bag so he is constantly crawling over to it and trying to get in it to get out the puffs. It took him about 2 weeks until he was able to sucessfully pick them up and put them in his mouth. Both the puffs and mum mums dissolve pretty quickly - go ahead give them a try.
I started giving Puffs two weeks ago at 7 months. She has trouble picking them up on her own since they're so small. I put them in her mouth and she likes them. She is doing ok with solids & purees. If her food is not blended enough, she'll sometimes spit out the chunks. I'm afraid of them choking too!
We've given her puffs for 4-6 weeks, but it's only the past week or so that she's getting them to her mouth more often. As PP said, they dissolve really fast.
If you aren't ready, just wait until you are. There's no rush and they don't need it now anyways. We started at 7 months, I broke the puff up into 2 or 3 pieces and she did really well. Wait till 8 months if you aren't ready. There's no hurry!
We started at 6mo with puffs, I've never bought the mum mums. The reason for giving puffs is to help them learn the pincher grasp and it may take a week or so before LO can get them into his/her mouth. I was concerned because DD had just gotten her first two teeth and was only eating purees, but they dissolve pretty quickly. She did gag a few times but did pretty well with them.

5/1/11 - BFP #3 - Pre-eclampsia, IUGR & bed rest from 32w. DD born via induction 1/4/12.
Started both of these around 6 m I think--they disintegrate very very fast--almost on contact with slobbers. So if your baby slobbers or drinks with snacks you should be fine.
The only thing I would watch out for is that they plug up your baby IMO
We started about a week and a half ago and he loves them. It took a couple of days for him to get used to the texture, but once he did he loved them. He can pick them up, but he hasn't quite figured out how to get them in his mouth yet. I would start with the puffs. They dissolve pretty quickly so it's not a problem.
I gave my daugther mum mums first, it gets really soggy fast so she couldn't choke and she loved them. We did that about a month ago. And we just started on Puffs, which she is loving. Its a lot of fun watching them learn to eat!
There are many foods you should avoid
giving here https://goodmomming.com/ are listed all the food you can give and
which you can't according to each age. I really won't give puffs to my LO.
5 or 6 months? She was always good with chewing so I knew she was ready. You just have to watch baby cues and ultimately try it! Worst that can happen is that you see they aren't ready and you try again in a few weeks.
