Has me waiting to count kicks until 32 weeks. Obviously I trust her but I'm just wondering if anyone else's doctor has them starting around then? I mostly see people starting to count around 28 weeks.
Mine told me not to do it all that it would only stress me out. I've found that when baby is awake it's constant movement. I would only count if I was noticing very little movement!
I have never been told to count kicks, this is baby number 5 for me. The only time I have ever had to pay attention to kicks was during a NST With baby 3, that I was having because I noticed less movement in my 9 th month, I do not think there is any benefit to it,just pay attention and if you notice a huge decline mention it to your DR
My doctor told me that after 28 weeks I should pick an hour at some point during the day and count kicks for that hour, but if baby is kicking plenty and consistently throughout the day not to worry about it.

I haven't been told to count kicks but I do get asked if I've felt them and if it's often. Since I do feel some everyday she wasn't concerned and just told me it'll become more frequent in the coming weeks. Maybe she'll have me count then.

This is me, too. Lo is pretty active, especially since he hates when I sit.
Thanks everyone for their input! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I see everyone post about how they start counting at 28 and I'm almost 29 weeks and there are days where I definitely don't feel 10 an hour.
I actually asked about it at my appointment on Monday after reading so much about it on here. She told me HOW to do it, but said it's basically just for my comfort, or if I haven't noticed the baby in a while. Or if I need a break and want to sit quietly alone for a bit. lol
This is my 3rd and I have never counted kicks. I was concerned with movement of this one at 23 week appointment and my doctor said if he's still not moving much we will look into it farther at my next appointment. Pretty much the next day this kid started moving more. With DS2 I had to make sure I had movement every 4-6 hours due to my Cholestasis, but didn't have to count kicks except for at my non-stress test appointment at 34 and 35 weeks.
I have been told to do kick counts with all three of my kids starting at 28 weeks. It doesn't take long, since you are supposed to do it around the baby's active time. Most days, it takes 5-15 minutes.
