LO is not quite 2 but will be in July, so this is a little premature but I was thinking about it this week as I squeeze him into the RFing seat lol.
LO is still RFing, but it's getting increasingly difficult to get him into his car seat as he gets bigger. FWIW he is 35in last time I measured him (~1m ago). In our extra seat he is actually too tall to RF, because it's a shorter shell but that's at my sister's house since she babysits occasionally. He still has a little space to grow in the seat in our car. I have tried letting him climb in on his own and he seems to think it's more fun to climb OVER the seat and around the car. But if I put him in he sits there fine.
Anyhow, I know the recommendation is 2yrs so I just wondered when people switched.

We won't until he outgrows the RF limits of his seat. He's 36" and 30 lbs and still RFing comfortably. I think he'll be at least 3 before he grows out of his seat.
At that point, we may reevaluate and decide to purchase a seat with higher weight and height limits. It's very important to me and I want to keep doing it as long as possible.

I am hoping to get DD2 as close to 4 years as possible.
She's 2y10m, 34 lbs, and 39". She rides rear facing in a Graco MySize70 or a Diono Radian. The MySize has a 40 lb rear facing weight limit and adjustable head rest. She should be able to rear face up to 40 lbs. The Radian has a 45 lb weight limit but a shorter shell, so I think she'll actually outgrow that one first.
I lifted her in and out through my whole pregnancy and have to lift her in and out still. She can climb in if she wants to... I kind of fold her like a pretzel to set her in.

It's actually important that you know how to install your own carseat. I'd make sure that they show you how when you have it done.

DS1 is almost 2.5 and is still rear-facing. I'll probably leave him that way awhile longer, but he's a peanut and nowhere near an inch from the shell and only 28lbs.

Dd is 95%, she only has a few months left rf if we're lucky. About age three at max?
H switched the seat in his SUV around 27-28 mo. The seat in my SUV is still rear facing.
I will keep mine RF until E hits the height limit.
