Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Moving A LOT when sleeping

My little girl has always been a mover at night. She goes from one end of the crib to the other, flips herself around, and now that she can roll over, from back to stomach. She is always running into the side of the crib and getting herself stuck against the side and me being a nervous FTM, I end up going in sometimes and putting her back in the middle of the crib while she's sleeping. Do all babies move this much when they sleep?

  • Mine definitely does.  Back to front, front to back, and flopping all around the crib with his little legs dangling between the slats sometimes.  I examined pretty much every angle of the crib and determined that he can't get stuck in any place, so I feel okay letting him flop around as he pleases.  If he's uncomfortable, he moves himself, so I usually let a sleeping baby lie!

  • Yep my LO is all over the crib too.  I used to go in and move him before I went to bed but I finally stopped doing that.  If he wants to move, he will.  If she isn't fussing or mad about being up against the side, just let her be.  Once they are old enough to move around, they find a comfy spot and sleep, just like you do!

One night last week I had to go in my LO's room to turn on his monitor and he was sleeping on his side, even though I had put him down on his belly.   An hour later, I went back in for something and he was in a different spot in the crib laying flat on his back.  He was sleep peacefully so I just let him be.

  • My LO is a wiggle worm. I can hear him moving around all the time through his baby monitor. Sometimes I laugh because he makes so much noise. It used to worry me when he would end up in different positions. I would always walk in and adjust him. Now, because he has been so mobile, I don't worry as much. I figure if he is uncomfortable, he will adjust himself.

I swear that DD covers every single inch of her crib multiple times throughout the night!  She prefers to be next to the side rail or flat panel - esp. if she isn't snuggled up to a blanket or lovey or baby or something.

  • Mine does. I used to move him back to the middle too but eventually, it became too much and I just let him go. He's just getting comfy (just like we do throughout the night). I've never found him in the morning in the same position he fell asleep in at night, lol.

My daughter is the same way. She is a pinball in her crib. Does anyone know if they will always be like this or if they eventually settle down and actually stay more in one place as they get older, and if so at what point?

Obviously once in a bed they can't do this....right?! (fear starts sinking in....)
