If you quit your job, no. I think there are a few loop holes that allow you to claim, but I think that involves being forced to quit because you are required to move, or something along those lines.
No, my husband's previous position was cut due to budget constraints and he had to call in weekly and state that he was willing and able to work etc. He had to go to job finding seminars like someone else said too....
No if you willingly leave your not allowed to. Your company can lay you off but that's pretty illegal or I would think.
It's not illegal. I was laid off when I was 8 months pregnant with DS. The insurance company I worked for closed all of it's satellite offices. I collected unemployment. I was required to do all of the things above, but they required a statement from my OB saying what what would be the last day I would physically be able to work.
I was not paid from that day on, until I provided a medical release saying I could return to work.
