DH likes some pretty out of the box names, and here's the latest: Tug. Thoughts?? I'm not feeling it AT ALL but want to know your opinions. Here are some other names that we've discussed...feel free to comment on these: Eli, Roscoe, Meyer, Jordy, Hurley, Crosby.
Re: Thoughts on boy name
The only one I can stand is Eli.
Like, tug boat? I'm sorry, but that's just dumb.
I love the name Eli!
ETA: I like Roscoe and Crosby, too!

No to Tug. Is he a baseball fan?
Of the others, I like Eli (is it going to be Eli or shortened version of Elijah?) and Crosby. The rest are very much NMS
Don't like Elijah, so it would be Eli as the given name. Crosby is also a family name.
This
I like Eli, Roscoe (which is a family name for me), and Jeordie (but only spelled this way).
Meyer-reminds me of hot dogs
Crosby-reminds me of th eband
Hurley-Reminds me of vomit...as in one hurls.
This! I think Tug is especially awful.
Tug is ten different kinds of awful, op. Put and end to that. Eli and Roscoe are fine IMO, and while I'm not a big fan of the others on your list they are better than a synonym for jerking off.
Sorry, I do not like Tug. I cannot even think of anything it could be a nn for.
From your list, I like Eli. Jordy would be an ok nn for Jordan. Jordy would not age well. I don't like the rest of your list.
I'm all for getting feedback, but that is a little much.
Tug? No way. As for your others...
Eli: Adorable
Roscoe: dog's name
Meyer: Last name
Jordy: Would be a cute nn if you went with Jordan
Hurley: Just no
Crosby: Last name

Jack is a common name, Tug is not. Seriously, look it up on Urban Dictionary. I taught middle school and heard kids referring to 'having a tug' all the time. It might be more common in the UK but the reference is there. I'm not trying to be rude, just making sure your eyes are wide open to possible ramifications if you name your child Tug.

This.
This. And I really prefer it as a nickname. I would not use the others.
Tug - Definitely not. As a nickname it could be ok, but I would never use as a formal first name.
Eli - Great. Very nice, masculine, not too plain, not too crazy.
Roscoe - I actually kind of like this one, but it doesn't tend to get very positive remarks from people. I wouldn't say absolutely not but be prepared to take some criticism.
Meyer - Don't like this one unless it's a family name. Sounds 100% like a surname to me.
Jordy - Like from Star Trek? Noooo. I do like Jordan ok though.
Hurley - Makes me think of the surfing brand, which is a big no-no (naming a kid after a brand name).
Crosby - Not terrible. Definitely very surname-ish, but has a better sound than Meyer. What about Cole or Connor or Ross instead?
Crosby is a family name, a surname yes, but that doesn't bother us at all. We actually both love the name Cole but it doesn't flow well with our last name since it starts with an L.
I'll admit that I thought of masturbation too! Sorry. But it is what came to my mind as soon as I saw it.
I like Eli and Roscoe a lot. Crosby is okay. I don't like Jordy, Meyer or Hurley much... they aren't horrible... I just don't like them.
One other name comes to my mind, that for some reason, seems to fit your style: Bruno. I'm just throwing it out there as a suggestion. I think it's a cute name, and we considered it at one point.
Tug is terrible.
Roscoe is a top three name for this babe, so obviously I like it. I also really like Crosby. The rest are nms.
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.
