I would do the NextFit. It's a taller seat, so it will last much longer.

And rf in and of itself provides side impact protection, and there is no federal standard for SIP in seats, so you are just paying for convenience features.
I would only ever recommend a Britax convertible to a kid that was 30% ile or shorter, they all have short internal seating height and are often outgrown rf around two.
ETA : if you're getting the seat for a newborn, I would definitely go with the NeXtfit. Britax tends not to fit well,the bottom slots are often too high.
