This is somewhat inspired by the "SIL is a Peach" thread.
What do we all think about re-gifting for a baby shower? Obviously I am talking about brand new, unused baby gifts that would be useful and make sense to give?
I personally think it's OK-- IF the gift makes sense. Like, I wouldn't re-gift a brand new nursing cover to a MTB that I knew was FFing (using this example because I do have an unused nursing cover) or a size 3 month snowsuit to a baby born in June (also have that!).
I have a bunch of really nice gifts that I have never opened and wondered what others think about this.
What say you BSB?

Re: Re-gifting
I wouldn't regift as a gift, but I would possibly give something I was given as part of a gift. To me it's just cheap to actually regift. -- I don't care when others do it.
I don't consider it proper to give a gift if it's something I got for free and I just don't need or want it. I would buy the gift I wanted and then add to it so the regifted item isn't the actual gift, just an extra something.
EDIT To re-word. I don't mind receiving things that are still new and useful that have been regifted. I got a few for my shower and I appreciate them. It's just not something I feel comfortable with. It just feels wrong for me to do it.
This.
Sorry, after I wrote it I reworded because I realized it was confusing. But the meaning is exactly the same. It feels cheap to me but others can do as they please.
This. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable regifting. I would just give to them separately and say something like hey I haven't used x and if you want it you can have it.
I agree. If I'm regifting, I will usually add something new, or just give the item out of the blue, rather than on a gift giving occasion. I want the item to be used, but doesn't feel super "gifty" to me.
I wrote the "SIL is a peach" post
The bouncer I re-gifted was the bouncer I registered for and happened to get two of at my shower. I hadn't returned it yet and then I noticed that my SIL had registered for the EXACT same bouncer that I got two of at my shower. That is why I re-gifted it. Well, plus I was already spending money on her shower as a gift, and I gave her a lot of other items that I actually bought her and they were not re-gifted, plus it was her second shower. Normally, I don't re-gift at all because I usually only buy off registries.
I'm completely fine with re-gifting. But I have used a snowsuit in pretty much every month of the year, so a 3 month snowsuit for a June baby would be well used!
And in my defense, I only use snowsuits in the summer when we are camping. Tents, and even trailers, really don't keep all that much heat inside and babies can get quite chilly. And by October there is the possibility that a snowsuit would be used with regularity here.

Started our exploration into the world of international adoption June 2012. We have no idea what this is going to look like but we are excited to find out!
Absolutely!!
Just make sure you remember who it's from originally and that they will not be at the shower....My cousin actually re-gifted to me the gift I'd gotten her for her wedding 4 years earlier...whoops!
