Job offer- background check?

I received a job offer and fill/sent back the paper work for the background check. How long do these things take to get back? I am suppose to start on Monday and emailed the HR guy at the company but he hasn't responded yet.

Does anyone know how long they take for the company to receive? This is a private sector job (admin type position) no degree required or anything. I am not worried about any criminal things since I have no criminal background lol.

Sorry I just get very inpatient waiting for things :)

    It depends on extensive of a search they do and also how frequently you've moved in the last 7 years. I would say generally 3-4 business days so a Monday start date is cutting it close.

    I would think it depends on how extensive the check is, but usually 2 days or so. Maybe you could call tomorrow afternoon if you haven't heard anything.

    When I conducted bk ground checks it was 3 business days.

    It was about a week for me, but I work in finance and am fingerprinted, so the background check might be more stuff than what you have.

    When I was hiring people, I had background checks come back in as little as 1 day if the person never lived or worked out of state. The longest I ever had it take was a little over a week and that was over a holiday.

    Do you have to wait for it to come back? When I hire people I have them do the paperwork and it does not have to come back before the start work. They just have to have it sent in.


    I have a Daughter born 2/26/2013. She is pretty much amazing!
