Haircut advice

So it is time for DS to get his hair cut. It is getting in his eyes and is just a little over grown in some areas.

I was hoping some other mom's out there could provide some advice.

Is there anything you did that you wold recommend I do (or not do) to ensure a good first experience?

Some things to note about DS:

-He is very active, doesn't sit still at all, and is very interested in what is going on around him. His hair is fine, but he has a lot of it, and it is starting to curl in the back. I would love to just have the front and edges trimmed up and have them keep the curls. Has anyone done this and not had it look like a mullet?

I can't give advice on the actual haircut but LO has had 3 haircuts so far and the first two went great but the last one not so much; however, I think it was all about the lady who cut his hair last time that made it a not-so-great experience for him. I strongly recommend sitting him on your lap. If you sit him by himself (like we did last time) he might get scared or get so wiggly that it will be hard to get his hair cut. Also bring a new toy, or item that he's never played with before or that he's usually not allowed to play with to distract him.

For one of his haircuts we gave him a buzz and the lady commented on the fact that he was not scared of the hair clipper and I think it's because I have an electric toothbrush that sometimes I put against his head so that he can feel the vibrations and dad sometimes "shaves" DS's face with the electric shaver while he is shaving his face in the mornings. So if you can, I suggest exposing him to electric things so that he won't fear getting his hair cut. This might not be needed for his first haircut since it sounds like you don't want to go too short but you might want to try it so that he is ready for the future.
