Anyone know if you can get a HyCoSy in the US?

Hi All,

My doc has suggested I consider getting an HSG to check my fallopian tubes for any blockages. I am very hesitant to do this b/c I have no reason to think there is a problem and I do not want to expose myself to radiation. I have read online about HyCoSy (hysterosalpingo contract sonography) as an non-radiation alternative that is used in the UK and Australia, among other places, but I can't seem to find out if it is offered in the US. Anyone know where I can get one in the US, ideally Atlanta??

    I can understand and appreciate the concern in having this test. I don't know anything about the alternative test but there are reasons your tubes could be blocked but you dont know it. You can still ovulate with blocked tubes so if you temp it will still show a temp rise but the egg may not be able to go anywhere.

    Any past infections, and stds especially PID can cause scarring, which you wouldn't necessarily know about.

    Also past injuries could also produce scarring getting hit in the abdomin with a ball, car accidents, a fall etc. A minor injury to the reproductive organs could produce scar tissue as the body heals itself. So these are some of the reasons to be checked out.

    Now to counter act the effects of radiation  you can take an epsom salt bath afterwards to draw out the radiation and check out this link. Seaweed/kelp was very instrumental in Japan after the nuclear bomb.

    3 cycles clomid with Ob,
    1 cycle Tamoxifen with Ob,
    Diagnosed PCOS 11/5/12
    clomid, trigger & timed bd 12/12 BFN
    1st clomid IUI 1/4/13 BFN.
    2nd clomid IUI 2/13 cancelled didn't respond to clomid.
    3/15/13 scheduled laparoscopy & on bcp.

    May 10 IUI from injectibles - BFN 

    May 22 done with interventions it will either happen or it won't. 

    February 2014 No longer actively trying, but not preventing.

    I don't have any advice for you in this matter.  I just wanted to wish you the best in finding your right path to take.  I know how daunting it can all be.  Heather has some great advice and hope that will work for you.

    Have you discussed your concerns with your doctor about this?  I would hope that they would have some feedback that can assist you in making a sound decision for you.
