This check-in is for anyone dealing with clotting disorders, or for anyone doing once or twice daily shots of Lovenox, Heparin, Clexane, Fragmin, Arixtra, etc. (you are also welcome if you are on any other blood thinners - coumadin, aspirin, etc.) This is a place for us to share our frustrations, worries and triumphs.

What?s new this week? How is everyone feeling? How are your bruises?

If this is your first week checking-in, please let us know your EDD and the reason you are on blood thinners.

QOTW: How was your Mother's Day? If you're a FTM, did you celebrate this year, or are you waiting for next year?

No bruise yet, still in my first week though. I have not gotten the courage to inject myself yet.
I worked Mother's Day, which we had a pot luck but other than that it stunk. Not even a card from my Husband as we already have 3 girls. Bummer.

Hello again, bruises are much of the same unfortunately. Doing well, still having a good pregnancy I feel. Mother's Day - we didn't celebrate personally alot. DH and I went to the cemetary and visited our daughter's stone, we brought a flower arrangement I put together. He told me happy mother's day. My step daughter wrote a hand written letter which made me bawl. We went to my parents and grilled out steaks and played in the back yard.
Mommy to Patricia Catherine, born still at 22w6d, 8/2/12. Mommy and Daddy will love and miss you forever baby girl!

BFP: 3/27/13, We are cautiously expecting baby #2 on 12/9/13 :) Please be our rainbow little one!

  • I've got one awful bruise, but otherwise shots are going pretty good. It seriously feels like this batch of needles was dragged over a sidewalk before packaging, they're so freaking dull! Some batches are great, and others are just awful. I'm looking forward to switching to heparin if for no other reason than the delightfully thin and sharp insulin needles. (Then back to lovenox for 6 weeks after delivery, boo.)

Mother's day was pretty low key, DH gave me a box of Disney Baby mom & baby body products (lotion, oil, etc) which is really sweet because I adore Mary Blaire style art and the box is all done up in retro "It's A Small World" theming (her signature style.) We had a little BBQ lunch at my ILs, then my parents stopped by our house later that day with a baby blanket my grandma crocheted for us. The majority of the day was spent working on the nursery, installing a ceiling fan & light, putting up blinds, etc.

Had a MFM appt yesterday, Factor X levels are right where they should be so my Lovenox dosing is right on track. Baby Shark is measuring a couple days ahead, projected current weight 4lb6oz. He agreed with my OB about probably inducing during my 39th week, if I haven't gone into labor on my own. He wants me to start trying at home from 37 weeks on (strong Red Raspberry Leaf tea, sex/semen on the cervix, bouncing on the exercise ball, nipple stim, etc) so my fingers are crossed that we're able to bring about labor naturally because I am NOT looking forward to potentially needing pitocin for my first delivery.

Hello. Shots are hurting this week and I am bruising again. Odd. Thought I was getting really good at it too! I have a huge knot on my right side.

Took my mom and dad out for mothers day to a nice place for lunch where my 3 yr old demolished a burger and impressed us all. Was a fun afternoon.

I also had my 18 week scan and all looks on track so far which is great. I was made to wait an hour till the doc came in to see me and I am so glad I didn't grumble cause halfway through the scan he had an urgent phone call about the previous patient whose baby had Trisonomy 18. I just thought to myself, if it was me I would've want the doctor to take his time with my scan and address my concerns. I felt terrible as the girl who went in before was so young and it was obviously her first.

On a lighter note, my mom was with me and we thought we saw a little penis on the scan but it is illegal to reveal gender in this country so I suppose its a wait and see situation.

I have a bruise that is *finally* starting to fade! This week has been awesome. Made it to 15 weeks, and went shopping for some new bras and maternity clothes.

AOTD: I had planned to FB announce my pregnancy on Mother's Day but I am holding off. Maybe I will say something when I know gender. But we celebrated with a nice lunch and my husband ordered me a doppler as my gift.
