AFC results, frustrated and confused

So I had my AFC ultrasound today on CD#5, but my doctor was pulled away for an emergency and the resident did the US. Now, I don't have problems with residents, I'm a nurse and I get it, but this is my IF we are talking about.

So as she did the US she was mumbling to herself, seemed confused and it concerned me. Then she said I had 7 follies on the right and 3 on the left. So a total of 10 antral follicles. Then she couldn't tell me if this was good, bad, inbetween etc!!

So stupid me, I researched it online. I found everything from sites saying its normal to sites saying it is super low! UGH UGH UGH!

Any advice, experience, etc would be soooo appreciated until I hear from my doctor! TIA!

    That is frustrating, but 10 is pretty average and where the re likes you to be, especially depending on Age, I am 35 and have any 10-13 I think. Gl!

    One of the most frustrating things is when the person who should have the answers, doesn't. I don't know much about it but PP sounds like she knows her stuff, and 10 sounds like a good number. Good luck Potter!

    How frustrating.  I don't know anything about the numbers but just wanted to say I'm sorry you  had a frustrating appointment.  ((hugs))

    Me 32 :: DH 41

     TTC since November, 2011

    DH's SA : Excellent

    Lap and Hysteroscopy June 2012

    DX: PCOS, Stage III Endo, slight Adenomyosis, blocked tube, and probable LPD

    Treatments:  6 Months Lupron Depot injections; 1500 mg metformin; 3 cycles of Clomid + TI = BFN

    3 endometrial biopsies all were "out of phase" 

    September - December, 2013:  Break to lose weight and get healthy

    40 lb weight loss but still not ovulating "in phase"  

    February - March 2014: bcps + follistim + trigger + TI = BFP

     Beta #1 (12dpo): 30; Beta #2 (18dpo): 500; Beta #3 (25dpo): 7,000!!! 

    1st u/s 4/16: One beautiful hb at 144 bmp 

    2nd u/s 4/29: hb at 166 bmp.  Graduated from RE!!

    When I started at age 33, I had 11 on one side and 12 on the other and she said I had the ovaries of a 23 year old. Two years later my last AFC was 7 on one and 8 on the other. Typical for someone my age of 35. Maybe she just did a poor count of your one ovary?

    TTC since July 2009. Dx MFI & LPD. 
    IUI#1&2&3 (2011 & 2012) BFN
    IUI#4 1/23/13 on 75iu x9 Follistim = BFP then chem preg m/c (Feb 2013)
    IUI#5 BFN (April 2013)
    IVF w/ICSI Oct. 2, 2012 - 13R, 11M, 7F, 1 frozen blast 4BB grade - - - FET Nov 15, 2013
    BFP! Beta 1:104 @ 10dp6dt, Beta 2:178 @ 12dp6dt,  beta 3:366 @ 14dp6dt
    Saw heartbeat twice before missed M/C at 8w3d on 12/27/13, missing my little angel boy
    JUNE 2014 IVF#2;  5R, 2M, 1F Three day transfer 6/7.  Beta 6/18 - BFN
    Child Free Now?

    Sorry you are worried and confused.  I'd definitely f/u with your RE via a phone call early next week if you haven't heard from him yet to get your questions answered!

    TTC #1 Since 7/2011

    Me: 30, PCOS with anovulation
    DH: 38, Low Morph & DE
    Rx: Metformin 500mg

    Cycle #1: Clomid 100mg + Ovidrel = No Response, Canceled
    Cycle #2: Clomid 150mg + Ovidrel = No Response, Canceled
    Cycle #3: Clomid 150mg + Follistim + Ovidrel = No response, Canceled

    Cycle #4: Femara 7.5mg + Gonal-f + Ovidrel + IUI = BFP!!!!

    Me DX: Hashimotos,Hypothyroid, DOR, MTHFR,  DH: normal

     IUI #1-#4 BFNs and a few cancelled cycles in the mix.
    - poor responder
    ***Suprise BFP on 6/13/13. Natural MC @6wks 3days
    IVF#1 and 2- Cancelled due to no response on max stimms
    FET 5/20- BFP
    1st Beta- 641
    2nd beta- 2166
    Sono- TWINS!!!!
    Two Boys! Born January 2015 @36 weeks.  Healthy and no NICU!  So blessed!

    Thanks for the info ladies. I still haven't heard from my doctor and I'm sure I wont until Monday. Seems low for my age, but my FSH/LH are good. I haven't had my AMH lab yet so maybe that will give more info.

    I do feel like she rushed the left ovary. She spent most of her time on the right, but who knows.

    I hope my post didn't get you down!!! I read your siggy and if you don't mind me asking... how many antral follicles did you have? Do you know the cut off for DOR? TIA!
