My body was not ready to have our baby and I believe 100percent that if it were, I could have had the natural birth I was so looking forward to.
At our regularly scheduled appt at 40w5d we found out that I had a small leak in my water and my fluid level was at a 3. My dr wanted to get baby out safely so asked that we head over to the hospital to be induced. I was only 1cm50percent. Since I was hooked up to the devil's drug, I was not able to labor as I wanted. 13.5hrs into my induction I was found to have made no progression. I said I wanted to wait another hour before considering an epidural. I really thought I could do it and had told myself during the roughest hours that my body was meant to do this. I know I was right, but my body wasn't meant to be forced to do it. In the end, baby's health and safety were too important for me to say no to the induction and the forced labor was too much for me to breathe through, I asked for the epidural. My body fought it and I ended up on oxygen for a few hours. I am thankful for the 2 hours of rest it helped provide. In the end, I was able to feel baby move and turn through me. What an AMAZING feeling! I pushed for less than 20min and baby was on my chest. 23h45m from the beginning of my pitocin drip.
Turns out my intuition on our Team Green baby was right it's a girl!

Good luck to all of you who have not had your little ones yet!
Re: Not as planned
Congrats on your beautiful baby girl!
I'm sorry your birth didn't go as planned but you were very strong to fight all that unnatural pain during so many hours. We can plan as much as we want but as soon as the baby's safety is in risk we must step away from the plan and try to get her/him out
Seriously? Is this really the place for that?
OP, congratulations on your baby!
Well said! Congrats!

I could have written your birth story. At 41w 2d our AFI came back at 2.4 and we had to induce. I was so disappointed and ended up going through a 25 hour labor and caved to the epidural after 15 hours and absolutely no progression. In the end, delivery was quick and smooth. Minus the oxygen, it sounds like we had pretty much the same experience.
What's important is that we did it because we had to, we tried our best, and we still have beautiful, healthy babies to show for it.
Congrats, mama!
Congrats -- BEAUTIFUL baby!
Sounds like you did the best you could within your situation. I didn't get the natural birth I wanted on my first go either - My water broke and I had contrax 1 min apart within the hour. I couldn't breathe through those either and got the epidural. I was able to feel the pushing stage as well and was so grateful for that. Best of both worlds in a way!
Jealous you have your baby... I'm still waiting for mine over here.
