Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Seeking advice from parents whose baby sleeps in the same room

My almost 9mo DS sleeps in his own crib in the same room with DH and I. Our current living arrangements do not offer the option to move him out of our room and there is no way to arrange the furniture so DS can't see our bed from the crib. Lately, he has been sitting in his crib, staring at our bed, and crying. He can see us so he knows we're in the room and he gets upset that we're not coming to him. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to calm him down? He's been up so late the last few nights because of this. Eventually, he cries himself to sleep but not until he's made himself (and DH and I) completely miserable.

  • Maybe a small room partition? Like one of those folding changing screens people use in studio apartments. You could put it up around his crib so it feels more like he has his own seperate space. I would also consider dragging his crib out to the living room (or wherever you have the space) at bedtime, so he is more removed from you.

  • I didn't think about a room partition. I'll see if I can find one that will fit well. Thank you!
