Too early but curious

I know it's too early to think about this but I have to know, shaving down under. This is my first and I'm a very clean type of girl sorry tmi . I know some of these worries may go out the window but its worth a try finding out what can I do. So as for shaving how do you deal with that situation? Is Nair safe? I'm too much of a wuss for wax but if its my only choice then I just might have to.

Not sure if Nair is safe, or not. But it seems like a pretty harsh chemical to take a chance with.

Watch out for waxing, too. I forget why, but while your pregnant you can be more sensitive to it. A lot of salons won't wax if you're pregnant.

Based on my first pregnancy, you'll decide in a few months that you don't care enough anymore to do anything down there. After childbirth, you'll decide that you don't care at all anymore! (Except when wearing a bathing suit.)

  • The nair bottle says do not use down there. I wouldn't do it. I shave and will keep shaving as long as I'm able because I have an aversion to body hair.

  • TMI Fact: for the last few weeks of pregnancy, I had my husband shave me.  I didn't care as much by then, but at the same time I was not willing to let it go totally Amazon.  He was a sport about it, it was actually very funny.

  • I used a body trimmer and did my best towards the end.  Less chance of nicks with a body trimmer.

Damn it, this was my plan for when I couldn't get down there! I do it occasionally now, and thought that would be my salvation!

I prefer to be properly shaved at all times. I just feel cleaner. At the end of each of my pregnancies, once my belly is too big to see what's going on down there, my hubby takes care of it for me. We put a towel down on the bed, grab a razor, some shaving cream and a bowl of warm water. He likes doing it and I enjoy not having to take of it myself for a couple months. We both win lol

  • I just usually use a personal hygiene trimmer made for down under. It works really well, and it has blades on the opposite ends where you can shave also if you want. I think it's made by Venus or something like that. But I love mine, and you don't really have to see to use it after you've used it for awhile. I'll be using it while pregnant, definitely!

  • Shaving is safe and totally fine to keep doing.  I think sometime in the 3rd try they actually discourage waxing.  I had to get help from DH to keep shaving after my belly got big last pregnancy, so being able to do it logistically can be tricky.

They will actually shave you at the hospital prior to delivery if you haven't already, I guess to make sure they have the visibility they want?

  • I had a scheduled induction so I had a bikini wax done a few days before delivery. I have never heard of a hospital shaving you before delivery. Maybe that just depends on the hospital? The wax worked great for me and I didn't have any problems. However, I did not get a wax throughout my pregnancy. I would just use a mirror and an electric shaver. You do the best you can!

  • The day I went into labor I went crazy cleaning up my appearance. Maybe that was my nesting. I waxed and used naire down there. I wound up burning myself and was humiliated when my water broke, because everyone was going to see it. Never told a soul, but the hospitalist was very confused by the appearance of my labia. HA!

  • My OB actually said it was fine to keep waxing if I've gone to a place with no problems or issues with cleanliness, etc - but I didn't think about it hurting more! May have to play it by ear :)

    What? Indifferent

Not gonna lie, I was just gonna say screw it when I got big. I keep up now, but the only person I want in the delivery room with me is DH. I figure the doctors have seen everything (and I'll likely never see them again) and DH isn't allowed below the belt anyways. I've heared too many horror stories where husbands have watched that and never looked at the wife's vagina the same. He can see the baby when I do. After it's out.

But that sort of changes everything...I don't know how I feel about DH shaving me (for both embarrasment and safety reasons) so I guess I'm gonna have to figure it out on my own. There is no way I'm going to let some random doctor shave me in my hospital bed (at least I'm hoping thats where they do it. It would be creepy if they like got you in the shower or something) while I'm in labor. No thanks.

I've already had a bikini wax since becoming pregnant and plan to continue. It's really not that bad.

Do NOT use Nair! It hurts SO bad.. Oh the burning.. I think I was like 17 when I tried it once.. NEVER again. I get Brazilian waxes and I won't ever stop. I highly recommend waxing!

Wow, I'm impressed!  You guys might have a career opportunity at Cirque du Soleil.  I can barely get my shoes on towards the end of pregnancy let alone contort myself enough to shave the lady biz.

I shaved up until delivery. I just went very slowly in the third tri and kinda blindly winged it. It was scary but I made it through.

One time during the third tri DH and I were showering together and I commented how I needed to shave. He told me he couldn't tell because I looked like a naked Peter Griffin from Family Guy lol. My belly was so big he couldn't see down there anyways.
