Babies: 3 - 6 Months

crib in rental condo

Were going to Hawaii for 5 nights. Were staying at a very high end condo village in maui. My sister arranged for them to have a crib in the room that my sister, dd, and i are sharing because shes not comfortable co sleeping. Im bringing my own sheets for it. has anyone had any experiences with this? Did it go well? Im worried ab dd not sleeping well bc its a strange place. Shes almost 6 months old.

Re: crib in rental condo

  • Yes, I have used a crib at a condo before. (I had originally packed the RNP in a large suitcase but they lost my luggage for a day) He ended up really liking it. I think because it was so much smaller than his real crib. I would just give it a good inspection and to make sure it isn't a drop down.

My DS actually sleeps better on vacations... who knows why? Maybe because of the extra stimulation. Both times we have gone somewhere for a vacation he's only waken once in a 12 hour span. At home he's up every couple of hours.

It sounds like an awesome trip, enjoy!

  • I'm confused. So, you normally cosleep, but because your sister isn't comfortable with you cosleeping you're havin lo sleep in a crib? If that's the case, I would tell my sister to back off my parenting decisions, and I would sleep with lo.

  • If I'm wrong, and there is only one bed that your sharing with your sister, then I get it. However, baby might wake up frequently because she's not used to a crib. So, you might find that on day 2 sis isn't opposed to cosleeping if it means a better night's rest.

  • We've used the pack and play provided by hotels several times, though never a crib.  We've also used our own PNP and a peapod (and most recently a twin bed for OD).  We've always had good luck with DDs sleeping in hotels.  Good luck!
