In mid-June I have an appointment to have my IUD removed and at that point, the hubs and I were going to start TTC baby #3. As usual, today when my husband and I tried to have some "alone time". It hurt like hell, I started spotting and cramping and now it is 2:00am and I was still dealing with this. In a moment of pure exhaustion and weakness I yanked the dang thing out myself. Now I am sitting here staring at it going, WTH did I just do?! I feel very lucky it was pain free and the whole thing is sitting here because I am pretty sure that could've been really bad. I am reading horror stories online about this and I just can't believe I did that!!!!! LMAO.
So, now I am here a month early! Not sure if this is where I am supposed to be. I currently have two kids and a history of miscarriages. Terrified but hopeful! I guess I will fill the hubby in the morning. Ha ha.

Re: I hope someone finds this funny! Ha! (Intro)
.......this story was extremely confusing.
You had painful sex and then pulled your IUD out? Or something along those lines? And apparently the painful sex is a frequent occurrence (you said "as usual")?
You should go see your doctor ASAP. The IUD shouldn't have been causing painful sex and you DEFINITELY shouldn't have pulled it out.
Sorry I am not laughing with you, I am just very worried about you, for multiple reasons.

I chuckled, but only because I pretty much did the same thing. Welcome to the board and GL!
ETA: I called my gyno after I pulled it out and told him what I did. He said that as long as I wasn't in any pain that I should be fine and that he basically would've removed it the same way. I had some cramping and light bleeding, but nothing serious. Couldn't hurt to touch base with your doc about it.

Welcome, and good luck...!

This is what I was wondering, when I had my first one removed they used a long forceps to get it out. I mean you can feel the strings out side of your uterus, in your vagina, I'm guessing she pulled on the strings.
OP I hope nothing happened when you did that and it won't mess with your fertility.
Welcome to the board. I wasn't even able to feel/reach the strings to my IUD...so if yours was so low it was easy to remove it's pretty likely it wasn't sitting in an ideal location. Good luck with everything!

If you've given birth vaginally (not sure if OP has or not...) it's a lot easier to remove. And this isn't the norm, but some people do have them fall out on their own.

This. It's partially why a lot of doctors will only recommend them to women who have had children and dilated already. I wouldn't take it out myself, but I have heard of people who have.
OP, I am glad you are doing ok! I hope you get to the doctor soon to check everything out!
Wow. Crazy! Hope all is just fine at your appointment!
Love your kids' names
ETA Welcome and good luck.

If I understood her correctly I think she just pulled it out - then started the search as to if its been done before and that's where the horror stories came in.
I would hope she wouldn't read scary things, then try it anyways.
OP - glad you aren't in any pain. Good luck TTC!
Absolutely fascinating.
Hilarious
Oh c'mon Banker, lighten up. You've never done that? LOLZ.

Ha ha. With some sleep, I find it less funny today. I really think it was in a moment of sheer frustration with it and lack of sleep. OB said it was fine so I guess I am good now. I feel much better, too.
Side notes: yes I had a vaginal delivery and I was not really cracking up laughing--more like a light chuckle.

This cleared things up a bit more. I can understand lightly tugging on the strings to possibly alleviate some pain and accidentally pulling it out.
Without that part of it, you sounded like you just didn't want to wait to start TTC in June and pulled it out to start trying this month. And, if you watch this board, you will see we get plenty of women who would actually do something like that, so I couldn't quite tell whether you were "one of those" or not.
This EXACTLY. "Horrified" is EXACTLY what I was going to say. And my face?--looks like Charlotte's right now. OP, I would reeeeeally go in for an exam and not take OB's advice over the phone. But that's just what I would do. I would be terrified......
