    This is a very common name where I'm from (I'm Swedish), and we would pronounce it yo-a-kim.

    I agree with previous posters about pronunciation.  However, I do know someone named this who pronounces it JO-kim.

    There are several pronunciations. The French pronunciation is zho.a.keen. The German pronunciation is yo.ah.khim. The Polish pronunciation is yaw.ah.kheem and the English pronunciation is Jo.uh.kim.

    I knew someone in elementary school whose last name was Joachim and he pronounced it Joe-ack-um.
