If you had a housekeeper, what responsibilities would you have them do around the house? Sweep, mop, vacuum and dust only? Would you want them to make beds, wash and fold laundry and do dishes? Just wondering what tasks a housekeeper would normally do and not do.
Re: Housekeeper duties
Pahaha i actually snorted. I will send my make believe cleaning fairy to you ASAP.
Kitchen, bathrooms, sweeping/vacuuming, ironing. All-round cleaning. I do the laundry and daily kitchen. We don't have pets so our house is pretty clean, I think.
I might be an idiot on this one but I dont really know if theres a difference between a "housekeeper" and a "cleaner/cleaning lady", but we have a "cleaning lady" (by the way, what is the new PC term for that?).
She basically cleans everything in the house except for windows, which she only does a couple times a year and we pay her extra those weeks. She does all floors, baseboards, window sills, everything in the bathroom and kitchen, furniture in all the rooms etc. If we leave the bed a mess she makes it but if its tossed together already, she doesnt make it. If there are just a couple dishes left in the sink she'll wash them but if the whole sink is full, she leaves it--assuming its going into the dishwasher. She doesnt ever do our laundry.
The money we pay her comes back 10 fold in our happiness, work/life balance, relationship etc.
My old one came once a week and dusted, vacuumed, mopped, washed windows and baseboards weekly too!, changed sheets, cleaned bathrooms, swept front stairs, did dishes if needed, picked up toys, fold clothes and towels if needed.
I miss her! Stupid recession!
This is what ours does. I can get to the regular cleaning it is the deep cleaning that I can't. She makes the beds if I put the pile of clean linens on it though. And I like that.
