Birthday Party

DH brough up DD's birthday and wanted to know if "we" aka me plan on having a birthday party for her like we did last year. My first thought was yes but then he said in his family they do a big first bday and then a smaller one unless it is big birthday, in my family every birthday is a big birthday.

What are your thoughts and what are you planning on doing?

We'll do a family birthday party like we do for both kids.

My parents, my sister, ILs and the four of us.

Although, SIL and MIL are discussing Disney in August. If we go, we'll make it a birthday event for nephew 2 and nephew 3, Otis and me... All Aug babies!!

Ours will just depend on how many friends-with-kids we have by then. It will probably be fairly small.

We don't live near family, so having a big family party is a non-issue for us. When I was growing up, we had birthday parties every year, but they weren't extravagant.

We just had family last year, but I did food and all the works. This year it will be a smaller group of family and probably just cake/ice cream.

We had a big party last year, but this year will be much more lowkey. Most likely just immediate family, which includes my inlaws, SIL, BIL, nephew and DH's Nana. We may end up inviting 2 other couples with kids, but that would be it.

We will be doing a joint birthday party with ds and nephew like we did last year. Inviting family and friends the only difference will be food. I will be days away from having dd so I told dh we are going to be ordering pizza.

I have no desire to host another big party this year.

My plans (as of right now) are to take DD to the zoo for the first time to celebrate her birthday. We'll have to see how we're feeling with a two month old, though

We'll most likely do something really small with our immediate family - grandparents and our siblings - like just cake and ice cream. Maybe grill some burgers and hot dogs, but nothing big at all.

I know we will do a party, but I'll also be days away from having LO3. Most likely, I will keep it simple. Probably BBQ in the crockpot, hotdogs on the grill... Easy summer food. Last year was mostly family, I'll probably keep it the same.

Liam wants Jack to have an Elmo party, we will see I guess. He's not that into Elmo, more Mickey Mouse and Thomas.

I am completely torn on this. I think finances (or lack thereof) will be the deciding factor. If money were not object, I would have a modest party every year and a big party on milestone years.

We always just did family for our birthdays. However our family has like 90 million people so there were always big parties. But nothing like going to the movies or McDonalds or anything like that.
