LO is 11 months old and still taking three 4oz bottles of BM while I'm at work. She also nurses once in the morning, twice in the evening before bed, and 1-3 times in the MOTN. I want to get her off a bottle by a year old so she doesn't get attached to it, but we are having trouble getting her to drink BM from a cup (sippy, regular, with a straw, etc.) She drinks water and smoothies perfectly fine out of a cup, but won't drink the BM. I plan to BF until she's a year old but really want her off the bottle and onto cups only ASAP.
What do we do??
Re: Transitioning off the bottle question
Yes, forgot to mention! We actually have the Avent training cup as well and she loves it for water. MIL has a couple different styles as well - most with a soft valve. We even have a cheapo sippy from the $1 section at Target. She loves our Camelbak bottle with the bite valve/straw. She even likes to drink out of a regular cup and water bottle (with help, of course)... I think she's tried everything!
If it's only a month, I would let it slide. BM in a bottle, everything else in a sippy. You can do the BM in the sippy, cold turkey, but since you are also nursing, you may end up with her just wanting to nurse more often. That's not good if she's already waking for a MOTN feeding.
We have the sippy at school, but only takes a bottle at home scenario. I'm not sure which is worse, lol!
