Water - dumb question

Water - dumb question

 

Can you give water with a meal in a bottle, or is there a reason you should offer it with a sippy cup? DD struggles with the sippy but is very interested in water when we help her drink from a cup. I thought offering from a bottle was a no no but I wasn't sure why.

    You just don't want her to drink a huge amount. We never gave dd 1 any water when she was this age.

    ok I was reading some dumb Baby 411 book and it was convincing me she needed 4-6 ounces a day and I was freaking out.

    I give him water in a sippy cup when he eats baby food. He takes down maybe 2 ounces.

    Same here.  He seems to really like it and pedi said it was ok to have up to 4oz a day.

    Our pedi told us water in the cup is just for practice right now, he didn't give us a limit though.
    If your LO likes water enough, she'll figure out how to get it out of the cup. Or maybe try a different type of cup.

    No you do not have to use a sippy cup. My pedi said either cup, sippy cup or bottle with just a little bit of water was fine. They don't need a lot at this age since they are staying hydrated through milk, but a little extra water can help keep them from getting constipated on solids. My LO loves cups, she isn't that great at drinking on her own but I let her practice as much as she likes and am not concerned with how much water she takes in at this point.

    my doc said one oz only in a bottle not sure why a botttle starting next week at 7 months plan to give him the one oz in his sippy cup

    My LO gets a sippy cup with water 3 times a day.  He drinks about 4 oz each serving.  He also drinks more when we are out.  He has gotten the hang of the sippy cup and he likes it. I had to try several to find one he liked.
