Shoes?

What shoes (type and brand) is your LO wearing? DS is not walking yet but he just recently switched to the mobile infant room at daycare and the teachers recommended him to wear shoes. I was thinking to purchase something similar to Robeez for daycare since those are still "soft".

Re: Shoes?

  • My son wears Robeez sp? He has been walking since 8 months. I have such a hard time though because his feet are very wide and tall from the top of his foot to the bottom. Most shoes look like the part of Cinderella where the step sister is trying to force her foot in and her arch is pushing up. He can pull Skidders off now so those don't work.

  • We will probably start w Robeez and "graduate" to Pedipeds as that is what we did w dd.

DS started walking at 9.5 months and we only just got his first pair of shoes. We got Stride Rite shoes. He barely wears them. I like him to be barefoot as much as possible still. We didn't really have a lot of selection because DS has small, wide feet.

  • Per the previous post about fat baby feet this is our DS. We use skidders since they have a rubber bottom, but fit him without much of a struggle to get them on. He has a few other pairs that we can usually get his foot into, once he starts walking we will go get him measured at stride rite and get him a nice (but cheap) pair. I hear the shoes only last about 3 months--oy!

  • I try to keep DS barefoot as much as possible, but I did get him a pair of closed toe sandals for outside. We went with Stride Rite and I'm glad we did b/c I would never have guessed he was already wearing a 3.5! I've heard that Kohls has good deals on Pedipeds, so we may try those next now that I have a better idea of what size he's in.

  • She is currently wearing See Kai Run Smaller shoes, which have soft soles.  She also wears Keen sandals.  In the next few months she will be transitioning to See Kai Run hard soled shoes.  I love their shoes, they are made for fat little feet!  :)

  • We got him Stride Rite sneakers first. I liked that they measured his feet for me so I knew I was getting the right size.

He also has a pair of sneakers from Payless. They have cute shoes and lots of selection there.

  • I like Robeez for nonwalkers and early walkers.  DD just started walking.  We keep her barefoot indoors.  Outside, she wears cheap Target sneakers.  I need to get her some Robeez or Stride Rites, though.
DS born 8/8/09 and DD born 6/12/12.

DS2 is currently rocking DS1's first pair of shoes which are the See Kai Run Smallers too. I love those though they seem a little big on him still. I am going to try to find him a pair soon. We dont do shoes too often only if we are going to be out somewhere and I know he might get a chance to get down and walk. At home he's barefoot or in socks walking around outside. He's not a full solid walker yet, I would say he's 50/50 walking crawling still.

  • Thank you everyone! Great suggestions!
Those with pedipeds...do they run wider? Online view seem kind of wide and DS is skinny with narrow feet. I'm thinking about ordering some pedipeds sandals and stride rite crib shoes for daycare.
  • yes.. i think they are little wide ..my kid has long and narrow foot too ..and pedipeds do seem little wide for him .. i got 50%off coupon for it so it was a good deal
