I'm speechless (Clinic Vent)

So I went to a consult today at a pretty well respected institution and they had pretty good pregnancy rates on SART.  I was worried about getting the it's time for donor eggs speech.  Imagine my surprise when I was told to try Clomid for 3 mos and call if I don't get pregnant.  I asked about monitoring and was told to take opks.  No other monitoring is needed.  I was so surprised I was speechless!  Needless to say we will not be cycling there.  However, since I was really hoping this clinic would be our new clinic I am at a loss on where to go.  We consulted at CC.RM and had a decent consult although they didn't really say anything about success rates or anything. They can give me more information after my work up.

So if you know a good clinic please let me know. We live in NC but are willing to travel for the right clinic.

Re: I'm speechless (Clinic Vent)

  • That is so strange!  They don't think you even need IVF?!?

I did phone consults with quite a few clinics - which was easy to set up but cost some $ each time since insurance wouldn't cover them.  But it was worth it for me to hear several doctors opinions on our case.

  • That's crazy that their rec. was unmonitored clomid.

  • I'm not sure how far Cincinnati is from you, but we see the docs at Institute for Reproductive Health, IRH. They have received the Best Doc's award several years in a row the facility is rated one of the top in the nation. The procedures are inexpensive (in comparison). They also have very accommodating hours, opperate 7 days per week, a phone consult can be done at no charge, they have a separate department specifically dedicated to finding insurance coverage, and a psychiatrist on staff for emotional support. I know many people who have had success there and I highly recommend them. I love the people who work there, the doctors, and am very happy with their services.

  • That's ridiculous indeed! Irresponsible, actually. Are they trying to make more John and Kate plus 8? These kings of places are the clinics that give IF treatments a bad name.
