Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Is this teething?!

DS has his bottom two teeth and he's had them for awhile now.  For the last week, maybe, he's been doing these really weird things that we can only hope is teething because if it's not something is wrong!  He'll crawl up to us while we're standing and BURY his face on our legs with his mouth open.  He'll crawl up to us while we're sitting and try to eat our legs/feet/toes/etc.  He'll all of a sudden BURY his face in the carpet, face down, and shake his head back and forth.  He'll even do that on our TILE FLOOR (which ultimately leads to crying because of course it hurts when you push your head on the tile!)  The only thing we can figure is all the sudden his teeth hurt and he's trying to get his mouth on anything and everything he can to bite.  Of course we'll try giving him an actual teether and he wants nothing to do with it.  But does anyone else's LO's do anything remotely close to this??  Zip it!Huh?

Re: Is this teething?!

  • Yep my LO does that too.  He'll try to bite me, the couch, even the corner protector things we have on the fireplace hearth.  I just figure it must feel good to his mouth or teeth.

  • i think burying his face on you seems perfectly normal! my LO does that all the time...  not sure if it is for teething or just his way to tell me he wants "up" or a snuggle.

i have seen him bury his head on the carpet if he gets tired. he will be crawling around and the lay his head onto the carpet for a second or two before he gets moving again.... almost like a mini break...

we have tile/wood floors, and i have never seen my LO bury his head on those... i think he knows that hard floors are not that comfortable for burying his face. has your LO stopped burying his head on the tile floor? hopefully once he realizes it hurts, he stops.
