Sitting in shopping cart?

When is it okay/safe to put LO in the shopping cart? Have you gals done it yet? How do you tell when he/she is ready?

When they can fully sit up on their own usually. Kaley loves being in it. I use her links to connect toys to the handle to keep her entertained and not throw them overboard.

Initially, we did the blanket thing to prop baby up. If he was too loosy-goosy, then I wore LO.

Now he has no problem sitting in the cart. He can sit up on his own at home (from a laying down position, he can go to sitting up, too).

I just did it for the first time last week. I needed to do a big shopping trip so I has no choice. She wasn't too great honestly. I had to put blankets on the sides. Once she figured out that she needs to lean forward she did good, but she started getting tired and would slouch to one side. So unless I need to do a big trip, ill continue to keep her in her Carseat for a little while longer.

We just did this for the first time the other day. Like PP said, I had a large shop that I had to do and carseat in cart just wouldn't do. C loved it! He was mesmerized by everything and really liked flirting with the pretty girls. Seriously, I was looking at my list and when I looked to make sure he was ok, I could see the apples of his cheeks... I looked around to see what he was smiling at and there he was, all flirty with a cute lady! Haha. I have a cover that has a little head/back rest which was handy. I also stuffed a blanket on each side of him. He got a little slouchy and sick of sitting toward the end, but the second something new was passing him by he was fine. I'll be doing this from now on!

Ashley likes sitting in the cart since she can see more. Plus we play peekaboo when she is sitting in it.

DS has been sitting in a shopping cart for a while. He feels like such a big boy... He hates it when I use the shopping cart cover, so I usually just give it a good wipe down first.

DD has done it. We use the Proper Shopper from target... it has pllows on the sides in case LO topples to the side. DD has been sitting unassisted for a while now, so we felt she was ready. She is also pulling up on things and seems like she will be crawling any day, so that also made us comfortable with the idea.

We've been doing it for a few weeks. Emme is an excellent sitter. The cover we have has pillows on the sides for additional support. It also stops her from gumming the actual cart.

we have. some shopping carts are too big and she flops around, but I just put a blanket in there with her and strap some toys in there and she's a happy camper. she loves to just look around, and the space it saves by not having her in the carrier is fabulous!!!!
