I had a customer come in yesterday and ask if I was expecting a boy or a girl. I told her I would find out July 2, but we (DH & I) don't care either way....we're just hoping for a happy healthy baby!
She then proceeds to say, "Well, you'd better give your husband a boy. You already have a girl so let him have his boy." I laughed it off, and she says, "No, I'm serious, you give him his turn, give him his boy."
Um....
Re: Ummm...I don't think that works how you think it works...
smh.
I never realized how clueless and ignorant, and just- uneducated- people are about their bodies, and how reproduction works, until I got pregnant. Now it's like I'm constantly overhearing the dumbest conversations and getting comments that make me want to tell the person they need to retake the 7th grade Health Education class.
"Okay strange lady, I'll get right on that...."
Did you ask her how you should go about doing that? Because I have a boy and so technically it's MY turn.
My DH is always saying that he wants a boy. I just shake my head, and say, "Well if it's not, you only have yourself to blame."
Makes me think of "Bill Cosby Himself." If you have not seen it, you really need to. It's stand up from 20 years ago, but it's still so valid. Near the beginning, he's talking about his dad teasing him about "not being able to put the stem on the cherry," and that if he blew hard enough in the baby's mouth or nose (I forget which one) that it would pop out, and his girl would become a boy. LOL!

I really shouldn't be surprised by the level of stupidity in the world, but sometimes I still am.
