Help, LO refuses all sippy cups!!!

My LO (12.5 months) was taking some milk and water from a sippy cup but now REFUSES all cups.  I have tried straws and sippy cups.  Is this a phase? He will ONLY drink from a bottle.

  • This was our LO until we tried the Zoli Bot cup. I don't know what it is about that cup but it's the only one be will drink ounces out of instead of sips. Since we bought a few of those we have been able to drop bottles completely over the last two weeks. We are on day three of no bottles and LO doesn't seem to miss them.

  • Does he like to drink from your cups?

My LO hates sippy cups, or at least he did, but I got him these  https://www.amazon.com/Philips-AVENT-Natural-Drinking-1-Pack/dp/B006GYLL8Y/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1368601954&sr=8-5&keywords=AVENT and he LOVES them!

I need to buy him another 2-pack, with the green since he has blue and red!! :D

Also, he's learned how to use a straw and suck now, so I might try the straw sippies again!

I'm sure everything will be fine with your LO (:

We LOVE these cups.  They can get all of the milk out of them and they barely leak (only occasionally out of the top of the straw).  One thing with this cup if you get it, though - make sure the threads are lined up properly and that the lid is on perfectly straight.  I though I had it on correctly once, handed it to DD1 in her stroller while I got DD2's ready, turned around and DD1 and the stroller were covered in milk that had leaked out of the side because I had it on a little crooked.   These cups are expensive but well worth it IMO.

Where do you keep your bottles?  Do you have them on a drying rack on the counter?  If so, I would put them in a cabinet or somewhere else out of sight.  If you LO sees them he might hold out because he sees the bottles and knows he can get one.  I would try cutting out one of the daytime bottles and just hold strong.  Offer milk and water in sippy cups but keep the bottles out of sight and refuse to offer it for that one feeding time (or do it for all of them if you're comfortable with that).  I wouldn't let him go all day without drinking anything but as long as he's at least taking a few sips, eating well (maybe incorporate some foods like watermelon), and having enough wet diapers I would try to just not offer bottles.  I would personally do this for 2-3 days and if he was still refusing sippy cups at that point give up and try again in a month or so.
